Pezzoni Back in Germany and Waiting on Town Decision
Monday, 17th Sep 2012 15:15

Trialist Kevin Pezzoni is back in Germany and is still to hear Town’s decision on whether he will be offered a contract at Portman Road.

The ex-FC Köln man was with the Blues between Tuesday and Thursday last week as he looks for a new side having been hounded out of his previous club by violent fans.

A source close to the player says the former Germany U21 international is yet to learn whether he did enough to impress Blues manager Paul Jewell and his staff: “He is waiting to hear a decision from the club.”

Jewell wouldn’t comment one way or the other regarding the free agent after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough, saying he would speak about the situation later in the week with his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolves game on Tuesday.

You guys need to read the star, they are reporting he's not going to be offered anything by the club, presumably because they think Vincent Kompany is going to walk through the door looking for a contract! This is after of course not offering Moshni a deal who is now training with one of our rivals.

Its all beginning to look like a shambles.

Is Clegg struggling to strike up a deal with his club 'FC FREE AGENT'?

How about Gary Donkerty the ex-spurs and Norwich player, he's a utility player can play CB or up front (2 BIRDS WITH 1 STONE) and he's in his late 30's, probably better option than Pezzoni?

Posters who have actually seen him play say he is poor. Possibly a cheap temporary option now we have let Delaney go. Actually by all acounts would be a direct replacement! We really need to have two young CB's and two experienced ones.

Who's been stealing my Vincent Kompany story? So now we are reduced to slagging off the manager for not signing players he thinks aren't up to it. Because of course of one of these players is signed, and turns out to be crap, there'll be a ton of posters saying, hey PJ, not going to blame you for this one, because I was really behind this move, even though I had never seem him play at the time, or in the training sessions in which he showed not much potential at all. Just a reminder though - I am not an apologist for PJ - though I hope, but doubt, it's going to work out for him.

PS I would like to take this opportunity to welcome my buddy Leigh back to Suffolk. Hurrah!

Lonelyblue, sorry if you had used the Kompany gag before.

I'm not one for usually slagging off pj, I actually have a degree of sympathy for him under difficult circumstances he's trying to build a squad.

However bit weird that we have had a lot of cb on trial, yet not one of them is taken on when we only have 2 cb on our books.

What is the plan B now as none of these premier league reserve cb we seem to be linked with on a daily basis seem to be winging their way here.

I'm really trying not to be negative but can someone please explain to me how the current situation is looking good as I'm really struggling.

If not him then who?

This is a complete shambles, no more no less.

Bigbigg - pah , dont worry about people who have actually seen him play, he is tall and german..........apparently thats good enough reason to sign him !!

The man has a mullet! We should sign him alone just for that!

Talbs - just jesting :) unfortunately that's how I feel about the current situation, I'm baffled how the club has got to this stage without hardly strengthening the defence, Chambers in and Delaney out and now we're getting picky who we're getting in on loan, whatever happened to the St Ledger rumour or even Kelvin Wilson at Celtic?

Think the whole back 4 needs looking at not just CB's...Edwards quite clearly isn't a right back, Chambers looks no better than Smith at the moment and is Cresswell playing poor because of speculation or that he knows he'll be picked every week as theres no competition or just a one season wonder?

TimmyH, back on form mate, couldnt agree with you more.

The people on here who keep saying we need more time to find a cb, we've had nearly 5 months to find one (more if you take into account we had cb problems last season). Ok we have got Chambers in and he looks half decent but this area needs strengthening desperately, not in 3 weeks, or a month, now!!

Make no mistake, if we lose Wednesday we are bang in trouble! Its like a mirror image of last season and season before that, come autumn we turn into a pub team!

Tall, young and schooled in the art of German football. Sounds perfect on paper so I hope the club can get its act together and sign him if he's the real deal.

really can we afford to to be fussy right now . !!

Talbs - post by Michael11 above isn't again far from the truth, Edwards isn't a defensive RB (we all know that and nothing has been done as he is the captain) and now Cresswell has lost form along with Smith who badly needs to be rested, the whole back line looks a mess to be honest. Attack maybe our only policy and try and score more than the opposition.
Strange thing is when the chips are really down we usually win and against opposition you don't expect it against, wouldn't surprise me if we beat Wolves (somehow).

It may, just may ,be the case that PJ has a good loan deal with an option to buy in January lined up and wants to make sure that we have him for the busy Christmas/new year period. Loans only last for 93 days. If we get some one now we won't have them for the last 2 weeks which by my reckoning is 4 league matches and a 3rd round FA Cup match, at a time of year when players drop like flies. Just a thought.
I do actually think that 80% of the people who make comments on this site have their brains nearer their feet than their head.

The only consolation from this is that Jewell is clearly in control of the defensive situation, if not we would have snapped someone up by now, either this or he's waiting for Thiago Silva to walk through the door. We need to pick up results so dont leave it to late PJ.

P.s without sounding sneaky I have recently made a blog and would welcome responses

Hello, I’m Aaron Edmunds and I am 19 years old. Sports journalism has always interested me and this is my first blog. The current 2012/2013 season is Ipswich Town’s 11th consecutive season in the Championship, a statistic all Blues fans are all but too aware of. 23

Maybe he isn't any better than Tommy Smith? Signing footballers isn't cheap and ITFC have been burned too many times in recent years by players who haven't been up to scratch or came in for the wrong reasons (mercenaries). I agree that we need to bring in some extra cover, but I'd rather PJ made sure he brought the right people in than signing players for the sake of it

Surely the lad deserved a run out or two before a final decision was made. Given all of his circumstances, plus playing in a foreign country for the first time, I would recommend Paul & co give him some extra time or offer a loan intially.

We need some cover and if the only cover is Ainsley with two full games under his belt(he is fine as fourth choice) you have to be worried because as soon as either Chambers or Smith are out , including suspension that is what we have. The teams in our league will punish that situation fully and there is the season over. I would recommend this lad is given further time please before a final decision is made. I understood he was impressive in one training session.

TimmyH, yeah I agree Michael11 does have a point regarding the whole back 4, but lets deal with the one issue at a time.

I agree Cresswell seems to have issues since the Villa speculation and guys we need to remember Edwards was signed at the club as a right midfielder/winger not a right back. He was only supposed to play there for a short period...that was what, 2 years ago.

But we cant start restructuring the back 4 when the windows shut. I actually think Cresswell will get back on track and hopefully when Hewitt is fit he could push Edwards.

I do however think we may have solved the goalkeeping issue as Loach looks good since he came.

Apparently we are waiting for another club to sign him up and then we will approach that other club to take him on loan!
