Posh Pair Continuing Town Talks
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2012 16:26

Posh pair George Boyd and Paul Taylor are at Town and are continuing to hold talks regarding their £2 million switch to the Blues. The duo were scheduled to undergo medicals at Portman Road this afternoon - with some sources reporting that they have now passed them - having travelled from Peterborough to negotiate their moves earlier today.

We understand that personal terms are yet to be confirmed but that the pair were set to have their medicals while their representatives held discussions with the club regarding the terms of their Town contracts.

The Blues had a joint offer accepted for the pair on Monday with Peterborough having transfer-listed them as they are out of contract next summer and had refused to sign new deals.

Town are also looking to complete the season-long loan signing of Daryl Murphy from Celtic with manager Paul Jewell also hopeful he can get other deals done - one presumably another centre-half - before Friday's 11pm deadline.

Speaking last night, Jewell said: “We’re trying to bring in not just those three, but we’re trying to bring one or two others in as well."

Karlos - I'm thinking the same thing, don't Boyd and Murphy both play on the left? Unless Jewel wants Murphy as the big man up front I don't see the point in having tem both on the wage bill.

I thought I heard this morning that Bramble was going to Celtic on loan?

Surly if £2m is the deal we could have had one decent striker for that money

Two top signings I think. Posh fans are gutted to be losing them - especially Boyd. We now have good options and depth in every attacking position. Hopefully, this will give JET and Chops a kick up the back-side and enable us to drop Carson to the bench as I think it is asking too much of him to start every game. I'm sure that the CB issue will be addressed and I'm hoping for one more defensive minded player and then I think we'll be good to go. Competition for place is exactly what we need after two lacklustre performance from a team that looked to have become complacent. COYB!

rob friday - interestingly, I've just had a text from a Peterboro' Season Ticket holder friend of mine saying: 'give us your money quick' before someone down your end b#ggers the deal up.

Can't help thinking these signings are papering over the cracks, good if we do get Boyd/Taylor on board but shouldn't we be looking at a RB or cover for CB. If we get too many players brought in at the last moment for Jewell to 'shuffle' around with we will be back where we were at the start of last season with PJ not the foggiest what his starting 11 is!

I was reading the Posh fans forum and the majority reckoned that Boyd did very little last season and yes can become lazy, they were more concerned with Taylor leaving.
Somebody in an earlier post mentioned PJ not just 'tweaking' the team but looking like a 're-build' and that's what I'm thinking and if this is the case find it rather disconcerting.

h32 - I am going by a couple of Peterborough supporting friends and multiple fans on the Posh message boards. Consensus seems to be that he has gone a bit stale over the last year or two but is still seen as a club legend. Fingers crossed a new start is just what he needs! Taylor sounds like a bit of an enigma, who can conjure something out of nothing but can go missing at time( cough-JET-cough). Hopefully with a (slightly) better quality of player around him he can produce more magical moments than mediocre ones. We'll just have to wait and see!
