Scotland Back as Martin Drops Out

Town manager Paul Jewell has made a surprise change to his side for today’s game at Hull City with midfielder Lee Martin dropping out in favour of striker Jason Scotland. The rest of the 16 remains the same.

The switch suggests that the Blues will move to a 4-4-2 formation.

Scotland’s recall to the starting line-up takes his total for the season to 17 with two more starts required to trigger a clause in his contract entitling him to another year at Portman Road on his current wages.

Hull recall on-loan Manchester United midfielder Robbie Brady with ex-Grays Ahtletic striker Aaron Mclean dropping to the bench. Full match preview here.

Hull City: Mannone, Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs, Dawson, McKenna, Evans, Brady, Koren, Stewart, Fryatt. Subs: Gulacsi, Dudgeon, King, Mclean, Cullen.

Ipswich: McCarthy, Cresswell, Delaney, Leadbitter, Edwards, Emmanuel-Thomas, Chopra, Scotland, Drury, Smith, Murphy. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Bowyer, Martin, Stevenson, Sonko.

Diss spot on.... he tried to make changes as he said Martin was flagging and the pitch wasn't ever going to support a passing game. He knew that hull dont concede many so bravely stuck two up front, didnt quite work he mixed it up we got a decent draw........ I'm happy with that and I'm happy with one loss in eight. I wasn't happy with losing seven with poor football and gutless performances.

PJ knows that we have a 'ridiculously' intense run of 7 matches in March, so why not use the squad smartly and give key men a rest occasionally. Having Martin on the bench gives the manager options too. The aim for Town should be to see out the season unbeaten if we can - and see where we get to. That will breed confidence for the new challenge next season.
The problem with these forums is you get some noisy opinionated twits on here who just don't think/know WTF they are on about, yet they post most garbage!

Bluelady... as you and i have said b4, we have our doubts regarding Jewell, But as you correctly say 1 loss in 8 and its the manner of the last 2 results which pleases me, come from behind performances at difficult grounds. The Barnsley game springs to mind, other than that, not too many points grabbed from being in losing positions.

I have been a Jewell Critic, but also credit where credits due and that goes for leadbitter also( Not a leadbitter fan) took a great penalty and scored a fantastic goal( another wrong decision to make him Captain, didnt suit him) .

When failings are obvious and not corrected, i will have a bloody good moan at jewell or who ever, but when things are improving and there are positives i will focus on them.

regards to resting Martin was a little surprised, but he has covered every blade of grass in recent matches, so if Jewell felt he was tired and wanted to change things then so be it. He is with the players everyday and is far more qualified than any of us to choose his starting line up.

So in a nutshell, a week ago we trounced a poor bristol and 2 tough away games collecting 2 draws from come behind performances, 3 performances that earlier in the season would not of happened. Thats called progress in my book, long may it continue.

ITs far more fun supporting the town, when we have things to be positive about, the positives are there, so are the negatives if you wanna look for them. So the question to all supporters is this, Is your glass half full or half empty? Mine is half full and its slowly filling up......coyb

We come from 0-2 down to earn an away draw against the best defence in the league and Leadbetter, who everyone thinks should have been rested instead of Martin, scores both goals. That's spiked a few guns.
Martin had possibly taken a knock but why shouldn't PJ try out a few different formations at this stage of the season with a heavy fixture list ahead of us.
Get a grip some of you, my guess is that it was your relations who criticised Sir Bobby for picking Roger Osbourne in the cup final

Gazelle, well said. I don't know what some fans want, I was very critical of Leadbitter when he was so poor at times and I was doubting (but wasn't in the Jewell out brigade) the manager too, but credit to them both, I saw Leadbitter play against Bristol C last weekend and he had a very good game, as he has the 2 away games this week so he's justifying his inclusion. If Jewell was no good at management, players who he's dropped wouldn't want to come back into the team and then do very well, McCarthy, Smith, Murphy, Drury, Leadbitter, Martin, Chopra........all been dropped, all playing very well now. But then these people would moan if Buffon or Casillas came in to solve our defensive problems, Dani Alves at right back etc......messi.......etc.......

Dissboyitfc - as a self assessed 'more intelligent poster' - you should know what's said about 'self praise' - before putting others down.

I suggest that certain supporters !! - are as unpredictable as the proverbial wind.

H32, have to agree with Diss here i am afraid. also not sure why you have to be so rude to people. We all want the same thing at the end of the day, a successful town. We did not have that last year, but are slowly (and i do mean slowly) moving in the right direction.
