Scotland Back as Martin Drops Out
Scotland Back as Martin Drops Out
Saturday, 10th Mar 2012 14:35

Town manager Paul Jewell has made a surprise change to his side for today’s game at Hull City with midfielder Lee Martin dropping out in favour of striker Jason Scotland. The rest of the 16 remains the same.

The switch suggests that the Blues will move to a 4-4-2 formation.

Scotland’s recall to the starting line-up takes his total for the season to 17 with two more starts required to trigger a clause in his contract entitling him to another year at Portman Road on his current wages.

Hull recall on-loan Manchester United midfielder Robbie Brady with ex-Grays Ahtletic striker Aaron Mclean dropping to the bench. Full match preview here.

Hull City: Mannone, Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs, Dawson, McKenna, Evans, Brady, Koren, Stewart, Fryatt. Subs: Gulacsi, Dudgeon, King, Mclean, Cullen.

Ipswich: McCarthy, Cresswell, Delaney, Leadbitter, Edwards, Emmanuel-Thomas, Chopra, Scotland, Drury, Smith, Murphy. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Bowyer, Martin, Stevenson, Sonko.

I for one can't see what is wrong with shuffling your pack when there are so many games in March.

I also cannot see the point of Leadbitter, I agree with all of you Leadbitter haters, he is a waste of space...only 2 goals today!

...we have been waiting 2 1/2 years for Leadbitter to make impact on games so there's my reason for being a negative leadbitter poster!

As for those anti-Jewell posters...point away to Hull with a reshuffled pack will do me and every normal Town fan just fine!

Keanish agree with second statement .....
Leadbitter poster, not my name btw, I am a "normal Town fan, who just happens to get very p****d off with all negative remarks, especially against players who we should be supporting.

No offense but how can you be this dumb? When did we start winning?

When Martin came on....

You are in absolutely no position to question those complaining.

Surely the most ardent anti Jewell fans (Jas) etc, must see that the modern game is a squad game, and when the games come thick and fast the ability to be able to use the squad is a good thing.

Looks like Leadbitter will not be available next game, injured this game, so there will be another reshuffle on the horizon.

One more thisng........2 away wins in a week, i'll take that, draw away, win at home, always has workede always will....COYB

Not sure how much of the game you saw to be able to make that comment Frase1987 as i doubt you're at the KC!

We all would have take 2 points away to the Saints and Hull and with 4 home games coming up out of the next 5 in march, i reckon PJ may well have put down a 13 point challenge to the squad over the next 5 games.

On course for a good March in my eyes and fairly positive Martin will start next game.

Mystery on Hyam though...

Yep would have settle for that result before the game -nice to see some steely resolve in our mind set at last. To play away at Hull and Southampton and lose neither is an improvement.

Football is all about opinions. My personal preference would be to see Drury and Hyam start in the middle with Martin off Chops. However if for whatever reason PJ decides to switch things around i'll support the 11 that are out on the pitch. I'll happily make my point at the bar after the game but during the 90 odd mins lets just get behind the lads wearing the shirt! COYB!

Two excellent but very different players. One creative outside the box, full of talent and the other a solid hold-up man who works hard (well they both work hard) and can net close-up.
It's quite difficult to know WHO to drop these days. But I believe we need to be putting on the bench players who cancarry on playing the system.
JET is always going to be an exception?

We have had 2 very unlucky players now Heigham (sp?) and Martin.

I think that PJ should not be in charge of team selection. What am I saying? Generally he has worked wonders getting a squad together. I'm not sure that some of the detail is right.

Detail wins matches.

Dissboyitfc - even sadder that you think so, even worse that you have to put into print.
You've applied your share of criticism too - just a reminder !!

Was Drury playing today?

Great result, anyone who was at the Bristol City game would have seen Martin took some hard knocks and was limping during game.
We have a lot of games this month and players will have to be rested for some games.

h32,,,we have had this chat b4 and i always say the same about having the facts... you post an opinion and you did the same again today b4 you had the facts... its moaning for the sake of moaning.....nothing wrong with constructive moaning but you and so many others post b4 you have facts..as the more intelligent posters state its a squad game... we got a point today...i dont agree with loads of things jewell does, but i had no information available to even has at a guess to why martin didnt start.. so i didnt feel qualified to make a judgement. unlike some on here, just waiting to post on anything negative, thats sad...coyb

Completely agree with the posters recognising the fact that the modern game is a squad game and you need a bunch of players who are ready to come in and take up playing to a high standard when called on. Scotland comes in for Martin, which may well have been tactical as well as for giving Martin a rest. Otherwise, surely Stevenson is the most likely direct replacement.
Good result today, Hull have a great defensive record at the KC and for us to stick 2 past them and draw is good enough for me.
COYB!!!!
