Chopra Faces Driving Ban
Wednesday, 19th Oct 2011 13:43

Town striker Michael Chopra is facing being banned from driving having admitted travelling at 106 mph on the A12 in Essex on September 13th when he was clocked by a handheld speed gun.

The 27-year-old’s case was adjourned this morning after the former Cardiff man admitted speeding in a letter to the court.

Chopra, who already has six points on his licence, will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on November 16th when he could be handed a ban.

All you Ford Mondeo drivers need to get out more.... I've seen you all on the A14 crawling home after home matches; outside lane doing 64mph, nattering away, texting and trying to remember the number for Radio Suffolk.
Pathetic and boring.

They're going to need to set up accomodation at the training ground so those with no cars can sleep there if needs be!

Remarkable that people on here are making light of this. Footballers are NOT above the law. There are no excuses for this. He should be banned and rightly so. 106MPH is a dangerous speed. End of.

Silly boy. Footballers have a long history of motor offences so not a surprise. Lets hope if he gets a ban he remembers not to drive until its over!

I was in exactly the same position as Chopra and got banned for six weeks plus a fine. (Longest six weeks of my life!) My advice would be to get a good lawyer.

Maybe lots of people get caught speeding every day but that does not make it right.

Omg i'm fed up with bloody footballers who think they are above the law! The law is for everyone! No were in the hand book does it say "These rules don't apply to men who play Football!" What's more it's the safety of people, they could come spinning of the road and kill someone! GET IT RIGHT! I reckon they should have at least 3 hours a week on teaching footballers the LAW! I do think it's getting stupid! They should come down harder on footballers!

Come on, has nobody ever broken the law? You've never rid a bicycle on the path or with flashing lights instead of a solid one? The majority of people speed some time or another, nobodies suggesting his above the law, he'll get a punishment just like anybody else who has been caught speeding. Just because his a footballer people jump on the band wagon to ridicule him, get a life.

Some people have very sheltered lives

P.S. I speed on a regular basis and don't think i'm above the law, (where has chops said his above the law?) If i get caught fair enough, i'll take the punishment, just like everybody else, and hasn't he already pleaded guilty?

I swear people just look at the article skim over it without properly reading or understanding it and make their on conclusions from whatever fairy tale they've been living in
