Hull Make Treacy Enquiry
Hull Make Treacy Enquiry
Saturday, 4th Jun 2011 08:50

Hull City are reported to have made an enquiry regarding Preston left winger Keith Treacy. Last week, the Blues and Nottingham Forest were linked with the 22-year-old, while Burnley are understood to have had an £800,000 offer turned down by the now-League One Lilywhites.

Preston are understood to want around £1 million for the ex-Blackburn man, a fee which is believed to be beyond the Tigers.

Lilywhites chairman Maurice Lindsay has said his club want to keep hold of Treacy but the former Stockport and Sheffield United loanee looks certain to move on during the close season with the player keen on a return to the Championship.

Treacy is currently with the Republic of Ireland squad in Macedonia for today’s Euro 2012 qualifier (Sky Sports One/HD1 8pm).

The Dubliner along with Town’s Damien Delaney and exiting Blues keeper Brian Murphy is not included in the starting line-up, but former loanee Darren O’Dea is at centre-half.

Skipper Robbie Keane is fit to play, alongside Town target Simon Cox, with the groin injury he suffered earlier in the week not having been down to Delaney’s challenge in training on Thursday after all but having been picked up a day earlier.

Republic of Ireland: Given (Manchester City), Kelly (Fulham), O'Shea (Manchester United), O'Dea (Celtic), Kilbane (Hull City), McGeady (Spartak Moscow), Andrews (Blackburn Rovers), Whelan (Stoke City), Hunt (Wolves), Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Cox (West Brom).

Why on earth are we dragging out yet another proposed deal!! If were genuinly interested then make a bid! We seem to dither around and by the time we decide to make a bid other clubs start getting involved.

We can all see St Ledger is a player we desperatly need aswell so make a double bid on him and Treacy and see how far out the valuations are and take it from there as with Sharp and Coppinger.

Sorry, but that sounds like another perspective signing we'll miss out on.

Personally, I am in real fear of our fate next season - and I am not blaming PJ or even Clegg this time ... it just appears that as a club we no long appear appealing to many of the "better" players.

Another player linked - another player likely to go elsewhere. For those who say 'don't panic' or 'there is plenty of time' - get real. Other clubs will snap these players up NOW. About time Clegg realised this and started doing deals.

We need to do what Wimbledon did, and relocate to somewhere central, away from that tedious 90min drive from the A1 - A14 or M25-A12 Thats what puts players off --- living in the middle of nowhere and having to travel great distances.

unbelievable, we are linked with a player by the press, but havent signed him yet, but because another club are linked it means they are going to sign him ahead of us. now b4 u knock me down, it may happen, but then again it was reported last week that treacy expected to sign for us as soon as hws back from international duty. hes still there, so lets just wait & see b4 just posting negative thoughts.PLEASE

Making a bid is one thing.....wanting a player that wants to come to us is another. Its pointless making a bid IF perhaps the player dont want to come!!!
