McLoughlin Makes Senior Debut With Stockport
McLoughlin Makes Senior Debut With Stockport
Wednesday, 2nd Mar 2011 08:55

On-loan Town keeper Ian McLoughlin made his senior debut last night as his Stockport side fell to a 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham. The 19-year-old joined the Hatters on Friday but was unable to play on Saturday because the paperwork was yet to go through.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international, who is out of contract with the Blues at the end of the season, is with the League Two strugglers for a month.

McLoughlin was on the bench for the Blues first team on a number of occasions last season and spent time on loan at Lowestoft Town earlier in this campaign.

Boss Paul Jewell is keen for his first and second-year professionals to out on loan to gain experience in the final months of this season with most of them out of contract in the summer.

Showed some good touches last night with one outstanding save in the first half.
Distribution was a bit wayward at times, one massively overhit freekick springs to mind, which shot above crossbar height for a goal kick.

Vocal, until the ball enters the final third, doesn't command his area well.

Thought he looked ok though, needs to develop his confidence, seemed to have an arm round his shoulder from one of the Stockport coaching staff at half time.

Cheltenham_Blue - thanks for the report. Very interesting. Sounds like a good opportunity for him.
