Hull: Town are Paying £320,000 for Bullard
Hull: Town are Paying £320,000 for Bullard
Wednesday, 2nd Feb 2011 10:24

Hull City's head of football operations Adam Pearson has reiterated his claim that Town are paying around £20,000 of loanee Jimmy Bullard’s £45,000 weekly wage. Bullard, who scored on his debut for the Blues in last night's 2-1 victory at Derby, is at Portman Road for the remainder of the season.

Pearson says Town are paying £321,480 towards the 32-year-old’s salary: "We're getting nearly £20,000 a week and it's a £320,000 contribution.

“People may sniff at that but in the Championship that's an awful lot of money and more than pays for the three or four players we've brought in."

Sources at Town continue to insist that they are paying a weekly share nearer the £10,000 mark originally reported, although no official confirmation is likely with the Blues rarely if ever making comment on individual players’ earnings.

If Town are paying £20,000-a-week towards Bullard's salary, it would almost certainly mean that the Blues' share of his wages is higher than anyone is currently being paid at Portman Road.

Pearson, who revealed the figures in the programme for Hull's 2-2 draw with Leeds last night, says Bullard’s contract, signed during the Tigers’ time in the Premier League when he moved from Fulham for £5 million, makes up around a fifth of his planned budget for next season: "Jimmy is an undoubted talented player who has two-and-a-half years left at this club.

“His contract alone is 21 per cent of our total playing wage budget for next season so we hope he comes back in the summer match fit and that he's ready to go."

...... if it's true - disgraceful for the Club not to pay what Austin was asking for (21 year old remember) with his career all ahead of him.
Don't give us the 'he hasn't proved himself at Championship level' rubbish - he will score goals - just like Jordan Rhodes.
And for some of you supporters who were calling Austin greedy hey - brings it all into perspective because all Bullard will be is a short term fix, all be it a decent one.

NOW THIS IS A DELUDED FOOL!!!

HE THINKS THAT IN THE SUMMER JIMMY BULLARD WILL WALK AWAY FROM £47K PER WEEK FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS AND LEAVE US FOR A CONTRACT WITH ITFC OF £20K A WEEK.

AS FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD HIS WAGES, WELL THAT JUST ISN'T TRUE, BUT AS HE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR US IT MAKES FINANCIAL SENSE TO GET RID OF HIM WHO HE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR.

V unprofessional of Hull. And still don't believe their figures. They may reflect what they are saving, but it doesn't mean we are paying this. For instance, Hull may be factoring in expected win/goal bonuses in their numbers - we may just be referring to salary. This could easily be the difference between £15k (which is what I had heard quoted) and "almost £20k".

The good news for us is that Hull are unable to be able to afford to keep him at that salary and will surely be looking to settle his contract and moving him on. if he does well for us, and enjoys his football, we may be able to get him for a snip at the end of the season.

Until then, he can score as many goals as he wishes like last night's I can't think of another player we have who could have hit the ball like that."

Jas0999 - I don't see any reason for Hull to be anything other than open about this - agreed that the implications could create problems within our squad - but we have people in positions within our Club who should obviously be better than what they are, at what they do / or NOT as the case may be.
Any 'shot' in the foot me thinks - doesn't fill sensible thinking people with confidence at all.

Like I've previously said we will be a 'loan player' Club until ............. !!!!!!!

........ I despair at some of the opinions and shallow minded posts on here 'worth every penny' - 'don't care what he costs' - 'don't know another player who can hit a ball like that' - 'Austin never scored for Burnley so he's proved himself '.

Takes all sorts ....... and we've certainly got just that.

Norris and McAuley's demands should now be a formality - thinking logically of course.

Well done Hull for releasing this : let's have some transparency from our 'virtual' owner in return now.

but Austins over inflated wages would have been 2 Million pounds over the term, we are paying a fraction of that to a player who can be instrumental in a. increasing moral 2. bring a bit of humour to the side and c. help town to stsay in this division.....

i think its amusing you say this wont happen, then hull have ALREADY tried to pay up his contract in the summer with a miserly £250k for a £6m total contract value with no transfer fee incoming for him to move to Celtic, so they would have used £250k of their cash, The reality is thats not enough, however, pay up about £2m when theres a transfer fee of £2m available, then JB moves to a lower salary, hes still in the same 'net net' position over the contract term. Simple business practice, paying up contracts, usually at about 60% of the original value.......

Hull shift him from their books at little to no net cost, ITFC get a player for market value, JB ends in the same net net position. WIN-WIN-WIN

I think its also known as 'cutting your losses' i dont think he'll play for Hull again tbh.....

if he was a "genuine premiership player", guess where he would be playing? at a team near the bottom of the 2nd division - come on, smell the coffee

320k for a man for 5 months' nothing really there must be a lot of rich woman or men out there who would pay a lot more especially if he can wash dishes and give a good massage and looks good in a g string

We are often told there is a pay structure and deals have passed us by because of this - wot bo**ocks. It'll be interesting how DN as captain in midfield and JB as new recruit also in midfield and quite mouthy with it hit it off. JB's 20k a week should make for some interesting negotiations on DN's contract - lets hope they compete with each other - 1 goal apiece so far
