Chimbonda to Talk to QPR
Chimbonda to Talk to QPR
Friday, 21st Jan 2011 15:26

Town target Pascal Chimbonda is set for talks with QPR. The 31-year-old, who played for Paul Jewell at Wigan, settled his contract with Blackburn Rovers yesterday.

Chimbonda’s agent Willie McKay said: "Pascal is going down for talks with QPR after cancelling his contract at Blackburn.

"He is keen to get his career back on track after a tough last six months at Blackburn. He feels QPR are an ambitious club that matches his own ambitions and he wants to help them win promotion to the Premier League."

Yesterday, prior to news that the one-time French international had left Ewood Park had broken, Blues boss Paul Jewell confirmed that he had spoken to Rovers manager Steve Kean: “I’ve made lots of phone calls and I’ve spoken to Steve Kean about a couple of things and Pascal’s name did come up in conversation.

“I just asked generally about what would be available. I’ve made lots of phone calls, as I’ve had lots of phone calls.

“I asked him what the situation is and he said he’d think about it. Whether Pascal Chimbonda is part of his plans, I don’t 100% know. I’ll leave that to Steve.”

Meanwhile, Leeds United have also been linked with the right-back.

Lets face it, Fighting relegation to League 1 or join the team top of league where he's likely to play premierleague football again next year. For a footballer who thinks he should be playing week in week out in the prem every week it isnt really a decision even if we do have his old gaffer in Jewellio

He was never going to come here anyway. I reckon he would be after 25000+ a week on a 2 year deal. Not in are league!!!!!

Keano was right about difficulty in attracting players to Suffolk, something Jewell is soon to find out.

I still believe we have dodged a bullet there. Looked grossly unfit and uninterested when playing at Old Trafford a few months ago.

Hopefully we look further down the leagues for people who want to prove themselves rather than taking the last pay cheque.

Pablo and Lisbie.... Yes, Lisbie - he'll be next, can he play at the back?

West London, £20,000 a week, minted club, Premier League football next season

or....

Scrap it out towards the bottom of the table in Ipswich.

No brainer for a neutral i guess.

This is a bullet dodged. Trouble is written all over him. Better choices will come.

stating the obvious a bit I know ...... and apologies to all those who have made the point already.......but surely we need to be looking at the teams below us in the League ladder (league 1/2) to attract a player with desire to play at a higher level rahter than always wasting time on Premiership misfits who are only concerned in collecting wages which are outside of our salary structure.

does anybody else agree that warnock maybe making a big mistake bringing in so many new faces to a team that was working? If it ain't broke why fix it?

Not much choice really. Must be a complete waster to have his contract terminated

Not too bothered as he does not have the best of temperaments. Shame we could get Lansbury but it seems Norfolk is more of an attraction than Suffolk and Norwich allegedly have no money. Sadly they are bigger and better than us all round. That makes me very angry and very sad. Crucial that we win tomorrow - dread what to think if we don't.

Agreed bluelady

QPR are starting to wobble, may not be automatic promotion candidates much longer.

What a negative bunch some of you are. It is not even clear if a serious approach was made to Chimbonda

Better that he signs for QPR could be nothing but trouble, given his past history

''Shame we could get Lansbury but it seems Norfolk is more of an attraction than Suffolk and Norwich allegedly have no money''

and maybe the fact he was a Norwich player before he went to Arsenal......!!
