Walters Hits Back at Keane
Walters Hits Back at Keane
Sunday, 19th Sep 2010 09:53

Former Blue Jon Walters has hit back at Roy Keane in one of this morning’s tabloids, claiming that he had to send a photo of his vomit to the Town boss in order to prove he was suffering from a virus ahead of the Exeter Carling Cup tie.

In an interview with the News of the World, Walters says he is by no means the "bad egg” he was claimed to be at the time of his £2.75 million move to Stoke City and says he missed the Exeter match because he was genuinely ill.

Walters said: “We had Exeter away and all during the week everybody in my family had a vomiting bug. So I quarantined myself from the wife and kids to try and avoid it.

"But at 3am on the Tuesday morning I was throwing up. I even took a picture of my sick and sent it to the physio because I knew Roy wouldn't believe me, what with it being a cup tie, clubs being interested in me and all that sort of thing.”

Walters has made five starts and has scored one goal since moving to the Britannia Stadium last month.

I actually believe it !!! Keane is clearly paranoid and Dwight Yorke said that he was exactly the same at Sunderland.

Too bloody right!! Walters must have earned more in a week than what I do in 3 months! And I still have to prove to my boss that I'm ill.

Bloody prima-dona!

True that zippy, too many players past and present have complained about keane being a general twonk to his players and fall outs etc. Don't like him....never will

chgambersM and Zippy why don't you shut up about keane's personality! I don't care about it, i aint gonna go out drinking with him or anything: All i care about is how he manages our precious football club. Look at the table, we are 2nd and moving in the right direction.

ChambersM and Zippy - We are second - Walters is gone - Keanes doing a great job. If you slagged him off last season when we werent in the top six it follows that you should praise him when we are where we aspire to be Thats logical, but then again when has logic ever entered into your pathetic rantings?

If this is all the News of the World can come up with then how very sad. I have not disagreed with any of the players that Keano has got rid of with the possible exception of Stead and Walters is no exception. We got one good season out of him running on adrenalin and now he looks drained to me. Walters did want to be at Ipswich but no need to mud sling now particularly as he got what he wanted. This is probably blown out of all proportion anyway

Did Jon actually prove anything by sending the photo, he could have photographed any random pile of sick, better would have been a video of him vomiting.
On a serious note who gives a s**t what Walters says he is a Stoke squad member now.
As for the anti Roy brigade, judge him on our position in the league not on hearsay from ex-players, last year you could justify your opinions now its just boring crap

Blackburn Rovers threw Walters out for stealing from his team mates dressing room, once a low life, always a low life

This may, or may not, explain why you missed the Exeter match, now Mr Walters please could you explain to me why you were so bloody awful and lethargic for the entirety of last season?

Blah Blah Blah. he has already proved he wasn't up to it and has been superceeded by Jermaine Penant. Since he left we have got our confidence back and are winning. Look at whats happening at stoke...Sour grapes Jon boy?

Obviously a trust issue which I assume was Jons doings?? I watched the Stoke game and he looked way out of his league. Was a favourite at his time at Portman road but can't help but have a bitter taste in my mouth.

Let it lie Jon, good luck at Stoke, you look like you will need every bit of it!!!

Whatever Walters... We've moved on, just leave it now. We've done fine without you.. and I've seen you for Stoke on the TV, not quite the big player you thought you were are you?

One good season, followed by two average seasons for us. Like others, when he first joined us I thought that he was going to be a great player.

I wish him well.... ...but, grow up mate.

And, I say it again, he is NOT a striker.
