Keane: An Important Win
Keane: An Important Win
Wednesday, 10th Feb 2010 02:05

Boss Roy Keane felt Tuesday night’s win at QPR was an important one as the Blues move into a period of four away games on the trot.

Keane said: “It was an important night for us. Obviously we should have done better in terms of killing the game off but I have to be pleased, in the end we got the win.

"We were at it in the first half. We had two or three other chances and at 2-0 we were actually a bit disappointed.

"We knew QPR would come out in the second half and they caused us problems, but we haven't had that many victories. So it's not a night to be critical because we got the result.

"It was a very important three points, especially with the run of away games we have coming up.

"The full-backs did well, Jaime Peters and Jack. We felt they could get at QPR and there were a lot of positives to take from the 90 minutes.

"Murph got another goal, and could have had another one. Pablo worked well up front and, although we had some anxious moments at the end, I can't be critical of my players because it was a big win for us."

QPR manager Mick Harford blasted his side’s first half display: "For a professional club, that first half performance was not acceptable.

"It was totally inept, lacking everything. Lacking effort, lacking commitment. Ipswich should have been out of sight, they had chance after chance and carved us open.

"We played better in the second half but that doesn't really bother me at the moment. At half-time I told them the fans were right to boo.

“I asked them if everyone was up for the fight, a rallying call for more effort and commitment. The players now know they are in a relegation fight."

Play nicely. Oh ok I see what you mean does this surfice -

Roy keane is ruubish, he has made terrible selections and his inconsistant team and his lack of ability to instill a strong winning mentality in the players means they switch off with 10 minutes to go. Thiss could be down to the ego of the man thinking everything is won or it is down to the weakness of the players. The state of the club makes me cry as with our ever amounting debt and the fact that we will never win promotion with Roy Keane in charge worries the hell out of me.

We need to bring back George Burley, Alex Mathie, David Johnson, Marcus Stewart, Herman, titus, reuser and co and play like we used to play in the days when loads of local fans jumped on the bandwagon because they were too lazy to travel any where to wacth premiership football so thought they would be trendy and come along to little old portman road to watch a fotty game.

I really think if I whinge and moan and "voice my opinion" that that will make me a true supporter and anyone that doesn't moan and whinge and stick up for the club is wrong and wears rose tinted glasses.

CoYB, Keane Out and all the other things taht makes me a supporter with an open opinion on an open forum.

Is that OK for you Mariner?

Brockleyblue you do whinge and moan as much as the boo boys it is just aimed at other supporters in an abusive way because they dare to say something against Keane .
Supporting a team does not mean you have to agree or be happy with everything that the club does or the managers who will come and go frequently over our lifetimes just to call yourself a real supporter

Surco_72 - Pop quiz hotshot, if someone was slagging off your mother for bad parking or being a noisy neighbour, what would you do?

For a minute there Kirbs, i thought that this had turned int a gardeners forum....then i checked your spelling!!

Agree with Brockley, to the extent that he gets "annoyed" by people slagging off the club he loves, and that Paulmariner was what he probably meant, and i dont think he required a rather obtuse smart arse answer, just my opinion tho mind.

So its ok that he then slags off other people is it??
I think obtuse and smart arse is the least he should have got!

brockleyblue- Come on mate, calm the hell down! If you post the kind of stuff that you post you are opening yourself up for abuse. Simple. So don't throw the dummy when it happens and start to get abusive, just put your point over in mature way. I'm not having a go as such just a bit of advise.

Anyway, back to the football. Last night was awsome first half, and as we all know 2nd half had a few bum squeeky moments however the lads stuck it out and held on for a vital win. Thought Leadbitter and Murphy were superb. Well worth the long trip down. Great effort by the blue army last night aswell, 1,400 on a tuesday night at £30 a go is awsome.

Looking at the table and as others have mentioned it's going to be tight till the end of the season probably. If you look at Bristol City in 12th, if they lose a couple and teams below win a couple they are dragged into it. I was'nt planning another trip down this season but a rethink is in order me thinks!

"Anyway, back to the football" - What an apt sentiment that is OrkneyBlue 'cos it gets so boring when things get personal between 'fans'. I don't care if you are pro or anti-Keane, a 'positive' or 'negative' poster - just put your opinion across in a mature manner and stick to the thing that matters - the football and ITFC. There is a facility for sending individual messages to people and although i don't recommend sending personal insults, I'd rather you do it that way than on here.

Thank the Lord we got the three points last night. I think RK should be applauded in some respects. The decision to play very attacking full backs paid off first half and although it would seem that Healy is not match fit, it was quite brave to leave him on the bench. I like Dr Albran's thoughts on the substitutions - more well thought out opinion even if you don't agree with him. Glad to see Norris score - he seems to have quite a few shots but rarely finds the back of the net. I think it's 18 league games since the despair of a 96th minute defeat at Barnsley since which we have had 6 wins, 2 defeats and 10 draws which makes 28 points. If we can take something like that from the remaining 17 games then we would be around the 60 mark and almost certainly safe. Fingers crossed fans!

Well that was a fun read....lol

surco...after the midfield changed as you said and we were "overrun"
our midfield changing wasn't the only thing that changed QPR's had also changed.
what came first the chicken or the egg...was our midfield worse or was there's just better

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I still can't understand why some are incaple of making one positive comment (particularly after a win) even if the rest of the post is negative. Still each to their own.

Reality: Very important win. Still much to do, but credit must go to Roy and the boys for pulling off a decent result. Shame we didn't press home our first half performance, but a win is a win. And much needed.

I've been at work all afternoon and missed all of this "banter" unfold infront of me!

I was there last night and I thought our fans were superb. You could still pick out the "moaners" who turned up and never got off their seat or clapped a single good bit of play.

But they paid £30 like the rest of us and deserve an opinion on what they see like everyone else. However to have your opinion taken seriously is a different matter. Getting personally and slagging each other off gets you no where.

Christ I sound like my mum!

Blueknight either way it doesnt matter ,when the midfield 4 was reverted back to the one of previous games they didnt look as comfortable ,and i dont think the QPR midfield are as good a quality of players as ours so why did we struggle ?
Are you saying that Brom,Preston,Boro and QPR have all got better midielders than us ,(maybe Brom) and that is why we are being overrun or maybe our system of Walters/Peters ,Leadbitter,Norris and Colback doesnt compliment each other enough ,i dont know ?
