Braintree next I reckon…. on 12:56 - Mar 8 with 2605 viewsBloots

….straight down the A120 from his gaff.

Although the roadworks might be a pain in the bum.

This post got me thinking about players who have spent all, or very nearly all of their career in one part of the country while playing for multiple clubs.

Clive Allen played for seven London clubs (QPR twice) but had a spell with Man City. Gary Mills spent his whole professional career in the East Midlands (Notts County, Nottm Forest, Leicester, Derby).

Thought of Trevor Putney, but he was drawn to the bright lights of Middlesbrough for a bit.

Can't be many that have played for us, Norwich and Colchester

Roger Osborne...

Apart from a loan spell with Detroit Express, he was just Ipswich and Colchester, before non league stints at Sudbury Town, Braintree, Felixstowe Port & Town and Westerfield

Michael Cheetham played for Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge U, Cambridge C and Sudbury. He spoiled it by playing 5 times for Chesterfield.

Simon Milton was Thetford Rovers, Bury Town, Ipswich with 3 loan periods at Exeter, Torquay and Braintree... if loans count?

I can't think of any others properly 'on the books' of all three. But David Wright and Kevin Lisbie did both have a short spell on loan at Norwich.

Gavin Johnson, aside from a couple of notable exceptions like Wigan.

Ipswich Town, Luton Town, Colchester United, Boston United, Northampton Town, Bury Town, Needham Market. Think some other Suffolk non league sides too.

Micky Stockwell and Adam Tanner didn't play league football for anyone else. (Tanner quit professional football pretty early, - was he injured?)

Joe Pigott has never really moved bar a loan spell at Newport....Charlton, Bromley, Gillingham, Southend, Luton, Cambridge, Maidstone, Wimbledon, Ipswich Pompey, Orient

Dion Charles even closer in the NW and must love the Fylde coast - Blackpool, Fylde, Skelmersdale, Fleetwood, Halifax, Southport, Accrington and Bolton

Simon Farnworth didn't wander far.

Born in Chorley, he played roughly 100 games each for Bolton, Bury, Preston and Wigan. Ventured further afield on short loans to Stockport and Tranmere!

A bit further from home and you have Sergio Pachón, who spent the majority of his career in Madrid without ever playing for the bigger two clubs

1996-1998 Parla
1998–2000 Leganés
2001-2004 Real Valladolid (not quite Madrid, but the biggest city an hour away on the train)
2004-2007 Getafe
2007-2010 Rayo Vallecano
2010-2011 Cadiz (He had to ruin it this year)
2011-2016 Fuenlabrada

Assuming he plays and scores for Braintree, that means he will have played and scored in every one of the top SIX divisions in english football.

Can't be many players that have done that surely?
