Summer football boredom 05:55 - May 31 with 1850 viewsgordon

Is rubbish isn't it.

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with it. I bet there's going to be some awful 'Nations League' matches in June or something too just to make it even worse.

They should have scheduled the Ashes to start just after the League One season finished, instead of this pointless test against Ireland.

I enjoy the better weather for cycling and a bit of wild swimming but I don't like summer... No football, rugby, hockey or pub fires 😑

Isn't there a Trout Were The Days forum you should be frequenting instead?!

Some people cope by making up wild transfer rumours.

By the way, I went to school with Liam Gibbs dad and I have it on good authority that LG is coming back to Town for a fee of £6m

By the end of the season I am actually ready for a break from the relentless march of football on TV. Ipswich I miss and will always have the excitement for, but regular weeks of football every single day just gets to a point where it feels more of an obligation than anything, particularly when the TV packages are so expensive.

This season the World Cup killed a lot of my enthusiasm for football on TV, I couldn't tell you much about what happened in the Prem in January because I had football fatigue. I need the summer break.

On the flip side you don’t have the stress of watching football. Think of the games where some incompetent league One ref has left you fuming for the rest of the weekend!

Does ‘wild swimming’ include swimming in the sea if you do it near a sewage outlet?

Try croquet. Benhall has a Club if you’re not in Ipswich

It’s also a sport that’s been hijacked by Americans so you should feel right at home. Though unlike ‘soccer’ there is a strong association between running towards danger and playing croquet. Custer and Billy the Kid were enthusiastic players

I'm fed up to the gills with all these puns, they're really off the scale.

I'm surprised I seem to be the only one to be honest! Maybe I just need greater willpower to say "No, I'm not going to watch Blackburn vs Coventry"

I once had an idea for a book - Football 365: watching a match every day of the year either live or on TV. I might try and sell it to Harry Pearson.
