While I don't agree with the Reserves of Premier League and Championship clubs taking part in the competition, they also don't do amazingly well in it either so some of the upset about it is a little over the top, they've never won the tournament, and it's still being won by clubs in the bottom two tiers which is a good thing. Nothing at the moment has been stolen from the 3rd and 4th division clubs who are still getting that big day out. Last year's final was fantastic and proved there was still exciting Cup football outside of the FA and League Cups.
I believe we should be trying to win the comp, it's been 20 years or thereabouts since we last played and won at Wembley. We could use a day out like that. The Texaco Cup was hardly a major honour at the time and Robson still took that seriously and fans have fond memories of that.
