I'm not all that keen on mince pies. I'll have one, because it's there, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy some.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Mince pies, mulled wine and XMas pudding are the taste of Christmas. Made myself pig sick on all three over the festive period.

Perfectly sensible. I won't have them in the house.

They're horrible. There's a reason people only eat them for a couple of weeks every year.

I'll have to disagree... Puff pastry ones from Sainsbury's, warmed... are very good.

Getting fed up of 'em now... We've probably been buying them since Halloween.

Are hot cross buns available yet?

Never liked mulled wine and not keen on Xmas pudding either.

My tastes of Christmas would be proper roasted ham (with onion, cloves and a honey glaze), pigs in blankets and honey roasted parsnips.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Try the Waitrose crumble ones with orange and cranberry. Bit of extra thick double cream.

I was devastated the first time I tried them. Was expecting lovely beef and gravy in a small pie. Maybe I haven’t got over it and scarred for life when it turned out to be sickly fruit.

I'm completely the opposite to you on these GB, I think all three of them are yuk . My "taste of Christmas" is cold turkey sandwiches (white bread) with a little bit of Branston* pickle .

......... but my favourite school dinner was always in batter so maybe I'm just a bit odd.

* other brands are probably available.

This from Private Eye made me laugh.

"It's been a staple for Christmas as long as we can remember. The traditional feast of mince pie articles is as much a part of the Yuletide newspaper season as the dismal Winter Wonderland piece or the repetitive piece on BBC Christmas repeats.

The recipe is simple, just buy mince pies from all the leading supermarkets, eat them, then fill up a page with your in-depth analysis and rating out of ten.

Are the articles simply puff, or is it just that they lack satisfactory filling? Are they a bit stale, or just past their read-by date?"
