Just wow......what a team 10:19 - Dec 13 with 668 viewsitfcjoe

Couple of observations...

At about 55 minutes, felt like McKenna decided it was a game he was happy to lose in order to try and win it. That we'd just go toe to toe for a bit and back ourselves to come out on top, and if we lost then so be it. Wins get you somewhere and draws get you nowhere fast and when the team knows how to win like this one does then why not.

Epitomised by Morsy, nicking the ball off their CBs toes on the edge of the box, it's just such aggressive play to have effectively your DM so high up the pitch at that stage of the game.

And then, we saw the game out so well, they didn't have a single shot after we scored - we just passed them to death, in dangerous areas for us against a good press - we just backed ourselves and it was just so professional.

What a week this has been, what a year 2023 has been.....I love this team

was a decent away performance again. Thought Watford will cause teams around us problems they will be dangerous at our place on the counter.

Very much that, I looked at KM chatting to Burns when he was readying him to come on, it looked very much like 'get to that byline, every opportunity you get you're an out ball'. Was interesting we actively looked to build in our left back position to pull the play over to that side, knowing Burgess had it in his locker to switch the play quickly and find Burns who was hugging that right hand side. Wasn't, ultimately, where the winner came from, but we created a few good moments down the right between Burns and Omari.

Watford are very decent, looked every bit a side that haven't and wont lose too many at home this season. Physical, athletic, phenomenal pace (Ryan Andrews is a joke in that respect), loads of width. They tried that cross field switch so often, didn't always come off but when it did they're so dangerous with their wide men and ability to get balls into the box. Shouldn't underestimate what a win that is, we've done what Southampton, West Brom, Norwich etc have failed to in recent weeks by winning there.
