This is the average rating given to each Ipswich player by EADT in every game of the season so far, the only exception being the 2-1 loss to Plymouth earlier in the season which I couldn't find an article for, so used the TWTD average instead, rounded to the nearest whole number. Here are the results, with the ranking emitted for those with fewer than five games played:

1. Cameron Humphreys 7.25 (16)
2. Sam Morsy 7.142857143 (28)
3. Cameron Burgess 7.117647059 (17)
4. Lee Evans 7 (23)
Zanda Siziba 7 2
Edwin Agbaje 7 1
5. Leif Davis 6.888888889 (27)
6. Sone Aluko 6.833333333 (12)
7. Luke Woolfenden 6.814814815 (27)
8. Conor Chaplin 6.8 (30)
9. Richard Keogh 6.8 (10)
10. George Edmundson 6.761904762 (21)
11. Christian Walton 6.703703704 (27)
12. Greg Leigh 6.7 (10)
13. Marcus Harness 6.62962963 (27)
14. Dominic Ball 6.625 (8)
15. Janoi Donacien 6.615384615 (26)
16. Kyle Edwards 6.571428571 (21)
17. Vaclav Hladky 6.571428571 (7)
18. Freddie Ladapo 6.533333333 (30)
Tawanda Chirewa 6.5 2
Albie Armin 6.5 2
19. Wes Burns 6.392857143 (28)
20. Kayden Jackson 6.37037037 (27)
21. Tyreece John-Jules 6.333333333 (21)
22. Kane Vincent-Young 6.235294118 (17)
Gassan Ahadme 6 (3)
George Hirst 6 (1)
Panutche Camara 5.666666667 (3)
Rekeem Harper 4 (1)

I think they do seem to have a bit of bias towards defenders for whatever reason, but even so having Cameron Burgess that high is surprising, and Wes Burns is very low but his contribution is perhaps a little overlooked in individual games because the opposition are so scared of him they tightly mark him and give more space for other players like Chaplin, perhaps. Janoi Donacien is also particularly low for a defender. Meanwhile Cameron Humphreys currently tops the pile for the second consecutive season (although last year it was with fewer than five games), but Sam Morsy is the highest ranked player without the boost given due to inexperience, which seems about right to me. I find it interesting to see how the players rank according to experts.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

This is one person or Andy and Stuart between them's view?

There is no way I would say that Humphreys has been our best player this season.

Another interesting analysis would be ppg for those matches the players have featured in. This will also be affected by the opposition played against but I think it would be a potentially revealing stat.

Yes, long before stats were so widely generated and analysed in football in this country, in ice hockey in the States, there was always a metric called +/-, which told you the goal difference for the team during the minutes when a particular player was on the ice. More relevant for ice hockey I guess, where different lineups of players are coming on and off the ice throughout the game, but I still think it would be fascinating to see that sort of stat in football.

The ratings for Jackson on TWTD are always far too low for me; can it really be said that he is only the 29th best player at the club?

I used to keep stats like these (I used goal average rather than goal difference) and would occasionally post them on here to widespread apathy, but the two main problems with them are that (1) a player's contribution is too easily and significantly skewed by a big win or defeat, and (2) the player who plays every minute - theoretically your best player - will by definition only ever have an average score and so will sit in the middle of the rankings.

I think as a number 9, Jackson has frustrated a lot of fans especially earlier on in the season.

i keep a tally of ppg (weighted to 1 for a start and 1/3 for a sub appearance)

obviously plenty of mitigations, but the top 5 in the league are:

ball (surprisingly! 2.36 pts)
john-jules
aluko
burgess
donacien

bottom 5 (without those playing 3 or less) are:

ahadme (1.67)
humphreys
kvy
keogh
ladapo

I was thinking last night about TJJ and the timing of his injury coinciding with our drop of form since Charlton.

Theres certainly been games since then where I felt his presence would have made a difference, specifically Wycombe away and Plymouth at home.

Yeah, this seems like a nonsense measure to me.
