I was interested to read this article, in particular the claims by the prosecution that the case could only be heard by the Chief Magistrate, necessitating the case being moved from Luton to London: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-64208406 Even though, yes, the king is involved, surely a pretty simple s.5 POA case is well within the remit of even the greenest of magistrates?
