Going to get worse on 15:30 - Mar 3 with 1231 views | gordon | That's v worrying - I had thought up to this point it had been assumed that Putin wasn't interested in west Ukraine, and had thought that it ought to be assimilated into Poland or Hungary, or that Lviv could be left to be capital of a relatively free West Ukraine when he had destroyed the nation of Ukraine itself and taken Kyiv. Lviv is an really beautiful city as well, and it would be awful to see it get the Kharkiv treatment (but of course this is relatively insignificant compared to the death and suffering). A lot of Russian dissidents have also been known to strangely suffer from sudden early age heart failure

Isn't it the senior mangers of the major oil firms who run Russia ? No idea but there must be some very tense meetings amongst the Party and the Oligarchs and the Oil companies and whoever has the most power / money.

Putin runs Russia but the oligarchs fund it. They are tied to him and can keep their money if they stay out of politics and do what he says (like, maybe buying a high-profile football club). It's why Putin held a 'meeting' with dozens of them last week to make sure they were aware of, and tainted by, his invasion plan. I'm not totally sure on the ownership of Lukoil but likely there would have been a representative there.

Yes, deleted and reissued as it wasn't Macron quoting Putin, it was Macron's interpretation of what Putin said (still as scary). Updated version:
