What a useless lying cnt !

"During Prime Minister's Questions, Boris Johnson was asked why so much money had been spent on the system while the government said a 1% pay rise for NHS staff was all that it could afford.

Mr Johnson defended the pay rise, saying NHS workers were getting an increase unlike other public sector workers, and added: "It is thanks to NHS Test and Trace that we're able to send kids back to school and begin cautiously and irreversibly to reopen our economy and restart our lives."

£38bn set aside and we get

"An over-reliance on consultants, with some paid more than £6,600 a day

A failure to be ready for the surge in demand for tests seen last Sept

Never meeting its target to turn around tests done face-to-face within 24 hours

Contact tracers only having enough work to fill half their time even when cases were rising "

A splurge on rapid tests with no clear evidence they will help

"Dr Billy Palmer, of the Nuffield Trust think tank, added: "The promise of a world-beating test-and-trace system has just not materialised, and the eye-watering sums of public money poured into this system are set to increase even further."

So, as with pretty much everything else this odious slug comes near, it turns into a huge failure - and a grotesque waste of public funds

He'll be called to account some day, one day - blood on his hands. Probably not before he's indirectly killed thousands more unnecessarily though.

I'm still not seeing anything that this government has overseen that's even close to a success, except for the vaccine rollout (and we all know the implementation of that was via the NHS).

Trouble is, the failure and waste of money is all being normalised and a lot of people are just going to shrug it off and still continue to support him/them.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

It's mad really. I feel like the country has lost any good sense it might ever have had.

I've never felt so depressed about this country/rest of world's future. Orange zones my arse. Most 12 year old kids have more sense - and sense of responsibility.

Sounds like the ideal time for a cheap Euro holiday. A little sun, take your mind off the pandemic...

Yes, and it's not unique to us is it? The recent populist wave seems to be upending the status quo and moral expectations. Responsibility being a key point. Governments are denying responsibility for their actions and, in the main, are not being held responsible by the electorate or by the press.

But Corbyn.

How is it our resident Conservative party members always seem to miss these threads?

The deaths and disruption caused by the Indian variant lie solely at the feet of this bloated bag of shi te. Travel from India continued with thousands arriving in the UK long after it was recognised as a danger area.

The thought being that this incompetent twt had spouted off about how good brexit would be that he was desperate to cobble something together with India to prove the claim - even being willing to fly there right up to the last moment.

And as with the shortage of PPE this was not an unforeseen event, but one that was the inevitable consequence of putting personal gain over public well being. Much as gobbing off about how there would be no border down the Irish Sea.

These are not over optimistic predictions, but blatant lies. Any of our fans can make extremely optimistic claims about how well we will do next season, but to state that we will be so good that we will qualify for the Champions League is always going to be untrue.

Pretty much everything he has stated since becoming PM in July 2019 has been a lie. He even started by announcing that "

“My job is to protect you, or your parents, or grandparents, from the fear of having to sell your home to pay for the costs of care. We will fix the crisis in social care once and for all with a clear plan we have prepared to give every older person the dignity and security they deserve”

There was no plan already prepared, just as there was no 'oven ready deal'. Just as there are no plans on how to level up the north. Just bollox that he spouts to avoid telling the cold hard truth, when that is what is required.

Whether he is brought to account or not, there are tens of thousands of relatives and friends who lost loved ones through this shtbags lying. The cost of clearing yup the trail of destruction he has caused will take years to deal with.

Much as with a fellow shyster, Trump, the harm both socially and economically will only really be known years ahead.

The death toll will never need any retrospective examination - nor will there be any wonder who was to blame. Those were the ones who thought it would be a bit of 'jolly old fun' to have a 'character' in charge.

Sadly, I doubt he ever will be called to account someday. These people never are. He will die old, rich and content, and given another time he will simply will go back to being some kind of national Gammon treasure. There aren't enough people willing to see him for what he is right now, let alone a decade from now.

Sickening.

Do we measure cases in the same way as those countries?

I dunno, I have a sense this will be different, maybe because of the jaw-dropping extent of it. Also that many people aren't really thinking straight at the mo and are just in survival mode, which is understandable. I think that one day, when we've reached a state where we're able to live with Covid in the same way that we do with 'flu now, people will be able to look back with perspective & see it all for what it was

Or maybe I'm just wishfully thinking.

Just asking.

Cases are cases aren't they? I get the differences in how deaths are recorded but a case is a case. Whether the countries listed are testing to the same extent and whether they are identifying variants to the same extent is another matter of course.

That said, it's not much of a surprise that we've let the Indian variant run wild given our painfully slow response and subsequent test and trace lapses. This has been the story of the government's response to the pandemic for most of the last 15 months.
