It makes for a far more interesting finish than anyone expected before the Test. Even yesterday it looked like England would build a good lead - and I think 250+ would have been comfortable.

I certainly don't think it's a formality that Ireland will win today. If anything, bowling is England's strength currently and batting probably the Irish weakness. I'm sure I read somewhere yesterday if Ireland chase down 180+ it will be the 4th highest run chase in a 4th innings at Lords for test matches. That's a tall order with history against you too! | |

That's test cricket. Those conditions were perfect for England's bowlers today and Woakes and Broad duly exposed them. It is certainly tough on Ireland, they competed well for two days but just got simply blown away. They'll learn from this experience, however it just shows how things can change quickly in the test arena. | |
