Whilst they’ve performed very well at times, England’s defending has been more reminiscent of women’s football of 10+ years ago. Millie Bright gets huge praise on social media but she reminds me of our Titus. Very capable and a great performer, when in a team that is consistently winning and has better players in other areas. But she is found wanting against the very best teams and too often makes crazy mistakes or goes missing. Not sure its Neville’s fault. He’s battling naivety and old habits. He does, however, rely too much on attacking and needs to learn how to get the back four working as a unit. All that said, his main contribution for me is that he has bridged the gap between men’s and women’s football by being part of the latter. | |
