........Theresa says that austerity is over!

"Esther McVey, the work and pensions secretary, reportedly told the cabinetlast week that half of all lone parents and two-thirds of couples with children stand to lose £2,400 a year — £200 each month — once they are transferred to universal credit."

Although, to put it in perspective, the rest of us could be losing £5,000 a year if Brexit goes ahead.

It's all part of the cull:

This article is from this time last year and it's still shamelessly happening on a scale those unaffected wouldn't believe, with even people suffering from advanced cancer and ME being told they no longer qualify for help.

But will they see any connection?

Take away billions, offer a few million back to look like you care.

I know!

But went with it because:

(a) Most of it began to make sense as you read on.

(b) Hardly anyone bothers to follow up with links anyway so I thought "Sod it, this will do". I'm sure there's a million others similar, though possibly with m ore suitable leading headlines.

Exactly.

Cut back the help for the disabled then provide a token gesture to look like you care about social issues.

Gordon's looking a bit older these days.

I'm genuinely staggered as to why people don't see through all the lies: austerity, support for the vulnerable, environmental issues. We're told one thing and yet there's so much evidence to show that the opposite is going on. Yet people buy it (they must as they continue to vote for it). I genuinely don't understand it.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

It's called lack of education & the promotion os the 'I'm alright Jack' society.

I am sad to say I get truly shocked when I hear some people talk, not a pot to piss in but they will ne inutopia when we leave the EU and there is no austerity

This happened to my sister just recently. How they can say that she is fit to work I have no idea, she can barely leave the house most days. Absolutely disgusting. The people undertaking the assessments are often unsuitable, under qualified, or in my sister's case, borderline sociopaths.

Cotty, I understand and she has my sympathy, not that's much use to her.

I have read back reports from assessments and more often than not they appear to be talking about a completely different person.

But this isn't always because the person isn't qualified, though there can certainly be an element of that in cases, it is more the brief they are instructed to work to.

There are professionals who would not participate in any work for ATOS on principle, for example. Many reports contain blatant lies, which are then ignored by the DWP.

The process is deliberately degrading and hostile.
