One of my favourite football all-day drinking sessions. Possibly the favourite.
Less said about what followed, the better.
I'd like to throw into the ring
Town v Wimbledon in 1994 Town v Plymouth 2010 ish Town v Hull 1990 Town at Oldham x2 late 80s early 90s Town at Port Vale 1990 Town v Southampton c.1983 Town v Stockport 1997 Town v Leicester 1988 Town v Oldham 1993
And take your pick from any of the last six or seven years.

I found the all day drinking helped to numb the pain of what followed, slightly!

In terms of purely awful standard of football - from both sides the game that takes the biscuit for me =
Cardiff 1 Ipswich 0 2015/16.
Literally NOTHING happened the entire 90 minutes. Two VERY VERY poor sides.
Hull 1 Ipswich 0 under Keane - again NOTHING happened. However the Cardiff game was a far worse standard.
Reading 5 Ipswich 1 2015/16 - yes we got hammered, but it wasn't a bad game of football. We probably had more shots than Reading, just one of them days everything they kicked went into the ruddy net!
The two most exciting games I've been to watching town = Sheff Utd 4 Ipswich 3 fa cup. Superb game.
Ipswich 3 Derby 2 2004/05 under Royle. CLASS game, I think both sides hit the woodwork twice ontop of that also.
The most complete display I've ever seen from us = Reading 1 Ipswich 1 2004/05. We absolutely murdered Reading for 90 minutes, hit the frame of the goal once, maybe twice. FINALLY went ahead in stoppage time. We'd won?! Of course not. 1-1........

Hand on heart, I’ve never got over that result. Had we beaten them in the playoffs I could have put it to bed, but we didn’t. So there’s the answer as to why I’m miserable when it comes to ITFC

In terms of rivalry, that was the worst. At least in the play-offs we had a cracking season to soften the blow a bit.
I actually think the worst game I've been to was the 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday at home. We were bottom of the league, just sacked Jewell, seeminlgly heading for relegation and we were absolutely dreadful that day, Ross Barkley destroyed us. The atmosphere turned very toxic and with the protesting of Evans/Clegg, it seemed like ITFC was going to fall apart without the right change of management.
Thankfully we appointed Mick, he did a great job for three seasons but has now started to stagnate and a similar change of management is needed to try and push us further ahead of where we are.

Yes and no.

That game meant nothing to the players, we were safe, so we went drinking. The result was immaterial to me, just pushed them closer to going up. as said, the Wednesday game was the lowest ive felt as a supporter, just felt empty, sad, and wondering where it would lead.

I'm surprised the 7-1 loss to Peterborough hasn't been mentioned. 11 players (9 eventually) who just couldn't give a toss, Delaney and Leadbitter in particular. A game I'll never forget

Weirdly when we were down to 9 we played well to hold it to 7.
The most overrated keeper I've ever seen us have was in net that day - Stockdale. I never bought into people saying he was superb for us - not in my opinion!
