Assuming you want balance then you'd think Smith will play as a left sided centre half but I can't see Chambers and Webster not playing if fit which makes me lean towards 3 centre halves. I also think as it stands we have decent balance with a midfield 3 of Skuse, Adeyemi and Huws. But then Celina will play and Garner has always been better with a partner up top. | | | |

Just don't see MM not having a defensive midfielder shielding the defence. A midfield 3 does make sense, but then this impacts on the selection of other players e.g Celina or Rowe. Agree Chambers has to start, we look a little inexperienced defensively if he doesn't. Just feel sure Skuse will be another starter too - they are both MM favourites, the rest of the team selections will be made around them. [Post edited 17 Jul 2017 19:04]

I'd go with a diamond, Scuse deep. We've got the midfielders to do it now and the full backs to create the width. And we need 2 up top, with Sears buzzing off Garner.

I get the impression Mick wants to play 4-4-2. But I don't see how he can shoehorn Chambo into that system.
I would favour a 5-2-1-2 as we don't have a great deal of width other than at full back, and I think it would get the best out of Webster.
That said, 5 at the back looked dreadful last season. |  | | |
