Could Wes play the Davis role? And Omari into Wes' spot? Broadhead on the left.

Has Burns ever played as left winger before, let alone left back?

Clarke will be given the role if Davis is injured. I think we're in danger of over-thinking it, which McKenna definitely will not do.

(Now I've said that, watch Walton start there on Tuesday)

Not if he’s not fully fit.

Williams would have been the logical choice.

However....Humphreys or Clarke.

What sort of crackpot suggestion is this?

Wes Burns at left back? Say it out loud and you'll realise this is ridiculous.

Also, no need to be experimenting for 2 games. Its Clarke or Humphreys

He has just come back from a injury lay off. He would be cooked within half an hour trying to play the Davis role. A pre-season friendly is the time to try this sort of thing out anyway, not a crucial match when we are trying to get promoted.

Well, thats where he played on his Wales debut, so people a lot more knowledgeable about football than us two thought he could.

Doesn't have to be a case of playing Burns on the left...the way we play, we have a back 4 with one full back (Davis) having more license to bomb forward; if Davis is out, having Clarke at left-back as the more defensive full-back and Burns bombing on from right-back (he's played there before) the way Davis usually does on the left could be an option. If we're playing Omari on the right wing too, could cause teams serious problems with Omari cutting in from there and Burns overlapping.

That said, would 100% prefer Davis to be fit to not have to work out an alternative!

Humphrey’s for me. As much as I like Clarke, he just looks awkward on the left (and obviously wrong footed). Humphrey’s looked comfortable if unexceptional there, and being left footed will be able to get crosses in first time.

Humphreys is the most natural replacement. Left-footed, great delivery, good engine. I'd start him against huddersfield for sure. Might want to go clarke at coventry.

Not a bad shout. Think he played for Wales there once or twice. Its not really a fullback role either so suits burns as a wingback option. Leave axel back to make a back 3 without the ball whilst burns has licence to attack.

Waka waka eh eh

I do wonder what the future holds for Humphreys actually. Not really featured this year as not been first choice, not farmed out on loan either. Seems a bit in limbo, especially if we go up.

Not really. I would say left wing back isn't left back.
