Why were they wasting time during the second half. They effectively needed four wins out of four to have any outside chance of keeping their season alive.
In the second half they probably had the clearer of the goal scoring chances. Two world class saves from our keeper kept us in it.
Just thought they appeared happy to get a draw.
Some brilliant moves again from us but just lacking that final killer pass. For all our play we didn't make their keeper make too many saves. |  | | |  |

I thought it was weird too, they didn't have any forward ideas but did hit us on the break and Vas pulled off a couple of great saves.. Expected then to really match forwards and leave space at the back

To win a match, surely the ball has to be in play. Restricting the amount of time the ball is in play not only decreases the oppositions chances of scoring but also your own. Unless you're already winning, time-wasting when you need a win is not just a little stupid. |  | | |

But if the ball was in play a little longer, they may have actually got a winner. You can't win a game if the ball isn't in play. Of course neither can the opposition, but when you NEED a win for any chance of making the PO's surely you get the ball in play as much as possible. | | | |

You literally said it yourself, the opposition (Ipswich) could have ended up scoring too. Time wasting from their own goal kicks and defensive throw ins makes perfect sense, their best chance of scoring a goal was from when our own attacks broke down. | |

Sorry, maybe a bit thick., but don't see it.
Their best chances of scoring were from when our attacks broke down, but for them to break down, the ball needs to be in play! If the ball is out of play, they can't score. They can't take advantage of errors, they can't force errors.
Now explain it again in how not having the ball in play makes it more likely for a team to win when you're chasing a win. Genuinely fascinated if there are stats to back these counterintuitive tactics up. [Post edited 14 Apr 1:10]

I think the attitude shown by both Watford and Middlesbrough shows how good we are and how well respected in the game we are. I wish some of our fans could see it. Really good Championship teams are unwilling to get into a full on footballing battle because they fear they would lose. |  | | |
