Did he know it was offside ? When he put it into his own goal .

Definitely. He smashed it home.

I hope so but still very risky with the level of refs at the moment!

The ref can overule the linesman, so pretty stupid to take the risk. Prefer it if it was a mistake.

He 100% knew. No question. He immediately pointed to the lino.

Interesting..I really don’t think he did. On one of the replays he was looking the other way and couldn’t have seen the lino. I’m sure he put his hand up to say sorry too.

The look on his face said to me ‘oh fck’ he was trying to clear that.

Matters not however

Pretty sure the whistle had gone before the ball was looped towards goal.

Whether he did or he didn’t (and I don’t think he did) I have no idea what he was trying to attempt there. The ball is going out behind, don’t smash it into your own net. You never know what the referees/linesmen are going to do.

And if the whistle had already blown, what if it was some idiot in the crowd.

Better safe than sorry!

Trusting an EFL ref would be a huge mistake

Got a lot of time for this guy. He's had a tough route to where he is and always puts in a shift. We have a great spirit across the squad where they all seem to share in the success andvfeel part of it. That's the mark of excellent management.

I think he was just confused and accidently smashed it in. Probably doesn't happen without the whistle but funny one. Great other than that.

It was clearly accidental, there’s no way he’s intentionally going to smash the ball into his own net even if he did see the flag up. Would be a silly thing to do as you’re relying on the ref giving it.

Indeed, think he was in half a mind to leave it given the whistle and half a mind to clear it anyway and inadvertently put it in the net.

The only clip I saw of his face looked a little sheepish .. which I would say covers your view.
