Fa Cup 5th round shoved unto midweek, can see why 21:49 - Feb 28 with 1132 views | Facefacts | Coisty slurring words, Liverpool reserves home against Southampton reserves playing out from the back. Like a pre season friendly. FA Cup's gone. Not a moan, just the way it is. A Liv sub came on with floppier hair than Russell Martin. Pudding basin haircuts all round. All our league games are Cup finals.

I would have preferred Chelsea v Leeds to have glne to extra time, though. With most clubs playing reserve teams, no wonder the FA Cup has become a big boy fest as their squad players are so much better. Since the Premier League was founded, it's been won just 4 times in 30 years by someone other than one of the PL "Big 4". The decline of the FA Cup to a midweek competition, without replays, mirrors domestic cup cumpetitions in most of Europe & it highlights the absurdity of persisting with the League Cup. The last 11 have been won by 1 of the Manchester clubs, Chelsea or Liverpool.

Yes it is sad to see but its the "modern" way. Unless the competition gets a massive cash prize, or a champions league place (which obviously the premier league wouldn't vote for), then this is the way it is. Money rules now. You even see it with Championship teams playing reserves as its better to get in the playoffs/win promotion than go an extra round in the cup. Mid-table Premier league teams should really be taking it seriously though.
