Grew up listening to him on the afternoon show on Radio One. Mr Mad, Sid the manager and all the faves. Phil Cornwell as David Bowie asking what the time is.

RIP.
Listening to a crackly little black Sony radio whilst he played some the sound tracks of my Youth. A true legend of the airwaves.

The less said about Gervaise the hairdresser, the better.
This was a hard listen earlier, and still is, bless Bobbie.
Emotional scenes on @BBCRadio2 this evening, following the announcement of Steve Wright’s passing 🥺 (Queen) Bobbie Pryor, you have absolutely NOTHING to apologise for. I cannot fathom just how difficult it would be to learn of the death of a beloved colleague live on air 💔 pic.twitter.com/CuaZ12wRPD

Wow. That was a tough listen. I doff my cap to any broadcaster who has to 'carry on' in light of awful news like that.
I can remember the day Bowie died and how you could tell how much the 6 music guys were struggling when news broke and I'm sure it was the same on other stations.

If I remember correctly it was Sara Cox filling in for Chris Evans that morning on Radio 2 who had to break the news as well. Followed a few weeks later by Chris breaking the news that Sir Terry had passed :(

Steve Wright will forever be linked with 1982-84, listening to him on Radio 1 after school in my dad's garage playing snooker on the half sized table bought for us by step-brother's granddad.
