Just for fun, post a random old and forgotten Town song. I'll start with this banger circa 2004:-

Follow follow follow
Follow the boys and big Joe
When the scum are at Crewe
We'll be playing Man U
So follow the boys and big Joe

There used to be a group of lads on the away coaches who had a whole set of songs that used to be sung on the coaches but not at the games. There was one for Titus bramble and I can remember one for matt Holland too. I seem to remember a song about sausage rolls too. This was in the late 90s early 00s

I remember the Tony Mowbray song to the hokey cokey

The Tony Mowbray song was a good song ruined by the bit on the end.

Yes it does.

It is also correct.

What does "We'll sing your assembly" mean?!

I always sang, "We'll sing in assembly", which makes sense as kids will be singing in school the next day.

One of us have misheard it, no idea which but unless you can explain what yours means, or provide some other evidence, mine's winning. "Loads of teams sung it" isn't evidence if you've just misheard it.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Around that time did we also sing "we're going to tea, with Joe and willie" or was that just a wonderful dream?

In fact - it’s your version that makes no sense.

If you say “Sing in assembly” then it implies you are singing in school.

I T F C, Ipswich Tooown Football Club
Wherever we go we fear no foe
Caus we are the I T F C
Repeat as many times as you like

Onward Ipswich Tooown marching on on to score
With the flag of Ipswich going on before
Morsey is our leader, McKenna is our king
Listen to the Portman roar, listen to them sing
Da da da da
Onward Ipswich Tooown marching on on to score
with the flag of Ipswich going on before

Changed the wording slightly to fit in with the modern era.

Would work well subsidising with,

'Hey, Conor Chaplin'

Especially as it comes across loudly around the ground.

Of course mine makes sense, at the time yes I would have been singing about it at school if Ipswich had made it to Wembley.

Who on earth describes people gathering somewhere as "your assembly"?
And if they did speak like that, which they don't, it would be something like, "We'll sing about your assembly". "We'll sing your assembly" doesn't make sense on several levels!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I may be mis-remembering but

There was that film they shot at PR (or some of it) and the director wanted some fan footage.
Out the camera and sound man trooped at half-time and the NS were encouraged to chant, "The referee's a rabbit". And so the NS chanted, "The referee's a w-anchor".

As I recall several attempts were made to get the NS to chant as instructed but to no avail.

Of course, once camera and sound man were most of the way back to Churchman's having given up the NS then chanted, "The referee's a rabbit".

Priceless. Even if it is only the way I remember it.

I'd forgotten that till now! Was it in the early 2000's or later than that?

Was really funny.

Um, no. I'd say to Chappers, for example, before a game, "I'll celebrate your goal". I wouldn't say to the team, " I'll sing your assembly." They'd be like, "What?!"

Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek running down the wing
Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek running down the wing
Feared by the yellows
Loved by the Blues
Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek

Ther version we always sang was:

Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek running down the wing
Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek running down the wing
Faster than a bus
And his name is Gus
Uhlenbeek, Uhlenbeek
