Cheese 18:57 - Dec 23 with 1002 viewsStevieH

Never mind today. We’re having a brilliant season.

We now have a couple of days to focus on Christmas, a time of year where many of us may have more cheese in the fridge than usual.

What cheese are you getting stuck into over the next few days.

I’ve just seen off 150g of Castello creamy blue

Roquefort, Saint Agur and a nice mature cheddar. But tonight is all about Jalfrezi, Shiraz and forgetting about the football.

Finished shopping today and brought home hearty wedges of the following:

Baron Bigod
Chèvre Buche
Black Bomber
Bingham Blue
Colston Bassett Stilton

In the fridge-temple is:

A big block of Shropshire Blue
A big hunk of really strong cheddar and a small block of milder cheddar
Real Red Leicester
Some Emmental (dreadful rubber rubbish, but Mrs C likes it)
Some Brie
An Aldi small cheeseboard with a variety of cheeses
A wedge of Manchego to cut tubes out of and roll up in Serrano ham - Rollitos!
Some of that rubbish with herbs rolled up in it for Mrs C

Think that covers it. Sorted!

He clearly didn't ask the cheese question. It's a surprisingly common error.

Shropshire Blue is a fake, with absolutely no connection to Shropshire.

Mild Cheddar is a waste of time and money.

It’s nice though. A creamy sort of stilton - the latter which is for me of course the cheese-King

Agree re mild cheddar though.

A sensible choice, all the decent stuff left for himself.

If it's not Stilton, Bleu d'Auvergne or Rocquefort, I'm not interested.

Quite right! She also likes any nut based chocolates like the nutty rubbish in Quality Street tubs and mini fudge bars out of the Heroes box. Useful.

Back to cheese, I’ve never understood her liking for adulterating gods chosen food with fruit like cranberries etc. odd.

My daughter in law sent me a cheese round from the Nantwich Cheese Co. with eight different cheese wedges. Looking forward to attacking those. Strange thing is that there's no Cheshire cheese wedge there.

Got a huge block of proper Red Leicester (i.e the crumbly cave aged stuff, not the bland orange plastic from the supermarket.)

Also got a good wedge of Long Clawson Stilton.

Got a camembert and some medium cheddar for the wife 🙄
