Fan disorder at most of our games? 09:53 - Dec 28 with 4522 viewsDBaldy

Got a mate who works for Norfolk police (although he's a Forest fan) who reckons there's been trouble at most of our recent games. He works a lot of games at Carrot Rd but never comes this side of the border.

I'm guessing this is his scum-supporting work colleagues fabricating stories, but was just curious if there was any truth to it as I haven't heard anything about this elsewhere.

There’s been a few scuffles en route back to the station I think, but I can’t recall anything major. And can’t recall seeing many police inside the stadium of late?

Scuffles up to the station after several games, but nothing major.

The police presence this yr has seemed to be at a higher level than I can remember.
Fleetwood with 66 fans caused a few issues after the game - not sure if that was due to retaliation?
Colchester fan went mental- even their director was caught up in the stands and was appalled.

Maybe be some truth in this as I have noticed younger, more volatile fans at FPR over the past 2 seasons. That being said, whilst not condoning anything dangerous or illegal, I want Portman Road to be hostile. It has been too nice for opposition players and fans for too long.

What's the benefit in being hostile to the fans? I am happy to let the 11 guys in blue on the pitch to do the 'talking'

Back and forth between home and away fans in the ground helps to create an atmosphere, trying to outdo one another and make more noise.

That's your prerogative if you want to leave the players to " do the talking". You can sit in your seat in silence and leave the atmosphere to those of us who want to help the team.

It perfectly possible to make the ground intimidating for the opposition team without taunting, insulting or assaulting opposition fans.

Who said I sit in my seat in silence?

Would rather not be known as a bunch of aggressive bellends. And the 'back and forth' between fans has no bearing on aggression or volatility, it is possible to be good natured, supportive and appreciative.

Or we could just return to the 70's

There have been a few matches where the away fans have been rather unpleasant. Pompey and Col U stick in the memory but there were a few others too.

That said, I doubt there is any real communication across the forces so they won't know anything more than what most of our fans do.

I would also be surprised if there has been no trouble at all at carrot road. In fact you make no mention of whether there has been. Maybe the natives are happy with Dean Smith and shocked with his sacking and nothing has kicked off at all?

I don't always walk towards the station after games but the few times I did it's kicked off with Barnsley & Lincoln. No idea why this season Ipswich fans walking that way are wanting to mix it but don't think it's happened in the past month or so. A lot more police presence has helped, there's now two big police vans parked near Royal Mail.

Away from home I don't think a single thing has happened, has there?

Beware of The Ipswich Cabbages

Happened last season too tho. Remember it got quite naughty on that bridge after Plymouth.

Few issues at the start of the season but now the budget seems to be reflecting the increased attendances so there are more than enough cops about with dog support etc. The away coaches even got an escort out of the car park on Boxing Day. Don’t think it was needed but the bikes were there so might as well be used I guess.
