I would assume that the difference between 29,673 and 30,311 is the number of seats that are not used due to segregating home and away fans. Not sure why else there is a discrepancy. I am also a little surprised that our most recent play off semi-final does not have 29,673 as the attendance. Was there a different proportion allocated to away fans and so a different number of seats used in creating the segregation? Or were there some single seats all over the ground that didn't get sold?

Think that’s the total number of seats now. When the small corners were taken out it knocked 3 or 400 off to just below 30,000 and then this summers work trimmed more off in SA lower and around the new dugouts.

There were 30,311 seats when the ends were built up between 2000 and 2002. Since then, changes to the dugouts led to the removal of some seats. Also the work in the corner during the summer meat the removal of some seats in Lower Sir Alf. Also for some years, there were seats in the corner where the screen now is. Hence the lower capacity figure.

No. They wouldn’t count segregation into capacity. That is total seats. They never used to use segregation when we had an absolute sell out before. They use it when they can. If they don’t count segregation they may as well rip the seats out.

For some reason I can’t open the OP. That’s what the current safety certificate says anyway, Mark Ashton wants to try and push it to 30,000+ for the #PackOutPR games. Said he’d keep asking questions of the safety board.

"they may as well rip the seats out". If the same ones were always used for segregating yes. However, don't some competitions require different allowances for away fans and so sometimes we end up with different sets of seats used for segregation? I see above why the capacity has decreased but the attendance at the play off semi-final is still below 29,673. I presume this will have been those seats not used due to segregation rather than odd seats that didn't get sold. Maybe there were some, but I would have expected that match to have been a genuine sell-out of both home and away.

Or they could let the Millwall fans in there, and they'll undoubtedly rip them out for us...
