He's the sort who'll need balls in behind the opposition fullback by the looks of it. With the ball at his feet he was very cautious with his first thought being to retain possession at all costs. That's not necessarily a bad thing and how most players are coached now, but sometimes you do have to try and make things happen (like when you're trailing a 1-0 lead in the second half and not creating many chances). |  |

Agree with others that he’ll be fine. It was his debut, he did get forward a lot early on and his runs were mostly ignored, and checking back to switch play is what better players and sides do – just that we didn’t play with much tempo at all so the attacking threat fizzled out.
It wasn’t a bad performance by him. Or the team, for that matter. We just didn’t click/know how to threaten a Sheff Weds side that snatched a lead and then did a good job of holding us at arm’s length and countering.
I think we need to mix it up more and have a Plan B when the attempts to pass through the opposition just doesn’t create enough. And especially on a blustery day and a bobbly pitch we often looked a little too uncomfortable and slow trying to move the ball around. |  |
