There's something niggling me about this:

Isn't it effectively people paying a company for some tickets the company could have given away in the first place?

The people donating are generous. The people receiving are worthy. But the club isn't really doing anything charitable themselves are they? Apart from facilitating the transaction and marketing it I guess (while making Â£40 a bundle).
