Sadly the best ones have been removed as they taken in previous period of shortage. People putting petrol into large plastic bags, and left trying to pick them up and put into back of a pickup.!

Correction, south east America. :) I'm sure most of these stories start "A Florida man...."

I'm guessing you're too young to remember the fuel shortage circa 2000 [?].

Queues taking up entire streets and beyond for petrol stations, fights on the forecourts, people filling anything that held liquid.

Madness.

We had a commercial fuel line break in Phoenix in 2005. Commercial meaning for fleet vehicles, semi's, trucks etc... but our lovely media, made it out to be consumer gas with cars and caused panic buying and gas shortages and gouging across the region. Morons.

Wasn’t that caused by some truckers going slow and blockading as well?

Remember it well but had completely forgotten about it until I saw your reply.

I remember my parents having to queue for fuel during the oil crisis of 1973-4.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

The UK panic could have been stopped overnight by petrol stations requiring a minimum charge of £50 - and ensuring that petrol could only be put into vehicle tanks - or as the US dimwits pronounce it
