Don't really care about him giving it back to the guy, that seems fair.

But there's no need for using the picture.

That’s why I ram into my kids that everything they post on SM can and will crop up in the future whether they like it or not.

Put stuff on the web, expect it to be ridiculed or commented on and it won’t always be as you want it.

People misconstrue, manipulate...that’s it, naively expecting people to be nice, the world isn’t as nice as we hope sadly

It's a shame Norwood doesn't spend as much time in the gym as he does 'bantering' on the socials. Having read the thread, seems the kid was probably right when he called Norwood a c**t.

It's not, though.

Fair to bite back? For me, I really couldn't care less. Don't give players crap on Twitter and then expect them to just ignore it.

As long as they don't cross the line with responses, really couldn't care less.

Why? He's done absolutely nothing to elevate himself over others in the squad. All he's done since he's turned up is get injured (not his fault) and embarrass us with his behaviour (definitely his fault).

James could easily be responding to a 12 year old with severe learning difficulties. In fact, there is a fairly high chance that he is. So what is the abusive response really achieving? Is it worth it? Surely, ignoring it is wisest.

FWIW

I know the original poster of that tweet, he must be in his 20's now and certainly has no special needs. Used to play footy with him. A really pleasant chap on the whole, except when it came to anything football-supporting related. Then he turns into a total nob, it's a classic case of wanting to feel that sense of belonging or family I guess.

No one could ever straighten him out or guide him right in that sense. He's had footy banning orders imposed that have run their course, but he just never learns!

Face to face and one to one with Norwood or anyone else for that matter he'd be as nice as pie. Standing side by side with his Stone Island clad brethren however he'd do anything he was told to do to gain kudos or not lose face.

Totally tragic, and I just hope one day he grows out of it.

Who cares who he is related to, if the lad dishes it out he should be able to take it.

I'd put it like this.

A nobody fan slags a player off on Twitter. Quite badly.

The player mocks the fan for his looks, and calls him by the name of a former Big Brother Contestant, who has a genetic condition, to double down on this abuse, and posts a particularly unflattering photo of the former Big Brother contestant to amplify this clapback.

BOOM!!! Twitter slaughter points for the Football player. OK it's not politically correct, and he has just potentially offended anyone with albinism who supports the club, or anyone else with albinism who spots the tweet, or any fans of the club who think that it's not acceptable for a representative of the club to use a genetic condition as shorthand for an insult, but, hey! It's a 3rd Division player, nobody will notice this apart from his team-mates who will think "Great Bants, lad!" and some moaning fans and who cares about them!

Only, Oh no! Because the football player is not from the area he doesn't realise that the former Big Brother contestant is from the town where he now plays, and suddenly the possibility of being called out for the offence given has just increased exponentially.

Only, Oh no! It turns out that the former Big Brother contestant is the son of probably the best known Town fan of the past 40 years. And he's not the sort of person you would cross! Oops! Potential awkward confrontation for football player at some point in the near future!

Only, would you believe it! The dad of the former Big Brother contestant is the brother of one of the Club's well respected former players, who has done his bit to support the club through the difficult times of the past few years.

And, you're not going to believe this, but that former player has a son, who has captained England at youth level, and is now a team-mate of the football player who used his cousin with a genetic disorder as shorthand to slag off the football fan who made the original tweet.

Now, either Norwood is hugely unlucky, which just sums up the banter era...#

Or:

Norwood routinely takes the p*ss out of Dozzell's cousin, knows who he is, and thinks this is funny.

So he's either an unlucky tw*t who takes the p*ss out of how people with genetic conditions look, or he deliberately goes out of his way to take the p*ss out of his teammates' relatives who have genetic conditions, and has now publicly outed himself as such.

He's either an ignorant tw*t, or a deliberate tw*t.

This.

Really really poor form from a representative of the club. I’ve got no problem with him ‘giving it back’ to a gobsh!te on Twitter but bringing someone completely unrelated into it due to the way they look is extremely low.

Yes, Norwood's supposed to be a *professional*.

No one needs to put up with abuse on social media tho, & he's been on Twitter since 2011, so must have known that the proper way to dealt with the abusive little scrote was to simply block him. That would have led to the lad not being able to even see JN's tweets, so hostilities would have ceased immediately.

That really is a most compelling case for the prosecution. Almost unanswerable.

In the banter era, this is going to be right up there, but Norwood is proving a bit of a liability. He's like a pound shop Chopra.
