The London Eye is 20 (TWENTY) years old today... 14:24 - Dec 31 with 548 views | ITFC_Forever | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-50725158 Been on it a few times.... the day of the last game at Wembley when England lost to Germany when it was rainy and foggy and didn't see much, a couple of times in better weather when you can see all the way to Wembley. Also once one in December at night, when you can see all of London lit up - that's pretty cool. It's now as accepted and iconic part of the London skyline as any of the other modern-day additions to the city. (The Shard, Fosters Bridge etc) [Post edited 31 Dec 2019 14:27]

There's a tongue-in-cheek part of me that think that IT geeks invented the whole thing so they could be a) antisocial and not have to go out on 31/12/1999 and b) earn shed-loads of money while doing a). And more sobering, it will be 20 years since that amazing day at Wembley in a few months time. | |
