Lambert, Hurst, McCarthy, Jewell or Keane to manage this team until the end of the season who would you go for?
I’d pick McCarthy. Football would be poor but no worse than we witnessed on Boxing Day or some other recent games where we’ve just launched it long. He would get us promoted. His time was up here but as a manager he was far better than any others Evans has appointed.
Your survey is incomplete. Jim Magilton was the best 'Ipswich' manager who has been in situ since Evans took over.
Keane, Hurst and Jewell were all utterly unsuited for the job AND utterly incompetent.
McCarthy was unsuited for the job but highly competent.... and if in charge now would probably have the club defensively solid and en-route to winning the division... BUT the fans didn't want that.
Lambo IS suited to the job, good at PR - and therefore has the job. A year in there are question marks about his ability to still manage a football club - but hey give hime a couple more years. Even Burley got a five year plan.
