| Forum Thread | We may not get another chance like this for years and years at 19:33 13 Apr 2024
The last few games have highlighted just how strong and competitive this league is. It has underlined what an incredible job the manager, staff and squad have done to be in this position but equally has shown how many decent teams aren’t going to be in or near the top six this season . In the late 90’s when the disappointment of missing out via the play offs faded, we pretty much knew we’d be challenging for promotion again the following season. It’s not like that now. |
| Forum Thread | Never bought into the “go down and rebuild” theory but I was wrong at 14:02 10 Apr 2024
Momentum from last season, on and off the pitch , has been a big part of why we’re in the position we are. Crucially the players and manager know that this team thrive under end of season pressure because they experienced it last season and did the job when there was no margin for error. I wouldn’t have trusted many of the teams we have had in the past, including the great ones, to get the result we need tonight and for the rest of the season. I trust this group though. It doesn’t mean we’ll definitely get the points we need to go up but there is no way that if we don’t it will be because of “bottle”. |
| Forum Thread | What’s the single biggest reason you want us to go up? at 15:02 8 Apr 2024
I’m asking because there are plenty of downsides to promotion (losing more than we win, leaving behind the most enjoyable league there is, even less 3pm Saturday kick offs, VAR, some players who have done so much for the club leaving etc). For me it’s simply that feeling of jubilation if we achieve it. The atmosphere during and after the Exeter game last season was special. A repeat would be incredible. |
| Forum Thread | Apologies to those offended by me and others clapping an opponent at 10:03 28 Jan 2024
I’ve never applauded a team that’s beaten us before and doubt I will do again. Hopefully we’ll never be in that position again. I clapped Maidstone after the game yesterday though. It was an embarrassing defeat and it hurt but recognising what they had achieved felt right. I hated sitting through it and it felt horrible when the final whistle blew but seeing what it meant to Maidstone resonated with me. Over the years I’ve known several people who have played at or around the level Maidstone play at. I also know a couple of people involved on the admin side of non-league clubs. The sacrifices they make and the dedication needed to do it are huge. For most of the Maidstone squad and officials yesterday will be the highlight of their career, maybe their life. The other reason I gave them polite applause (I didn’t stand there hands above my head cheering them) was in recognition of their fans - not the 4,000 glory hunters but the 500 or so have been there through thick and thin. Sorry to those of you that consider my actions and those of quite a lot of those around me to be so deeply offensive and disloyal. In future, if we’re drawn against non-league opponents I’ll make sure I patronise them before the game, spout off about how we’ll beat them by 10, laugh at their support, mock them for it being their “cup final”, already look ahead to the next round and then walk away all bitter and twisted, looking for scapegoats if it doesn’t work out how i had planned. |
| Forum Thread | FFP restrictions at 10:05 30 Dec 2023
I’ve read a lot of comments about how it is likely to restrict us next month but can anyone summarise what this means in practice for this window i.e . What the ceiling is for us in terms of transfer fees and salaries assuming we don’t sell any of our key players? Thanks |
| Forum Thread | 12 points from 7 games and only 1 defeat in December at 00:14 30 Dec 2023
is decent. We got 8 points from 5 games last December, with results including a draw at home to Fleetwood and losing at Wycombe. The progress our club has made in a year is incredible. |
| Forum Thread | It’s time to drop the imposter syndrome at 11:44 17 Dec 2023
We’re half way through the season, playing great football and breaking records along the way. We deserve to be where we are. The disappointment at only drawing yesterday underlines how far we’ve come in 2023. We’re not where we are by some fluke, it’s because we’ve got a great team and a fantastic manager. Leeds drew at home to Coventry yesterday. A couple of weeks ago we beat them more comfortably than the 2-1 scoreline suggested. After so many years in the doldrums, I completely get the cautiousness and not wanting to get carried away but by any objective measure we are more than capable of getting at least a draw on Saturday and beating Leicester on Boxing Day. For all the general positivity among supporters, far too many seem to have written off the next two games and will treat any points gained as a bonus. I’m sure the team and management are confident of at least 4 points from the 2 games and 7 more points before New Year. |
| Forum Thread | Any minor disappointment from yesterday’s result has gone for me already at 08:47 17 Dec 2023
If we’d been in the top ten and pushing for play offs it would have meant more. As it is we’re 10 points clear of third with 2 massive games to look forward to. We’ll be in an automatic promotion place at the start of 2024 even if we lost all remaining games this year (we wont’t of course, not a chance). We’re so far ahead of them I haven’t even checked the gap. We battered them even if we didn’t win. In a way them celebrating a point how they did is more satisfying than us narrowly winning and celebrating in a way that made them feel more important to us than they are right now. As for Norwich fans calling it our cup final etc. They’ve missed the point. The coach welcome, banners and atmosphere weren’t really about the game yesterday. It was a celebration that we had caught up with them, overtaken them and that we’re on the up, they’re going in the other direction. We know it, they know it and so does the rest of the football world. [Post edited 17 Dec 2023 8:48]

| Forum Thread | “Carrow Road is falling down” on Saturday was good but… at 07:58 13 Nov 2023
“Kieran mckenna’s blue and white army, we’re so good it’s unbelievable “ would have been even better and got all 4 stands singing. Not a criticism, the atmosphere now is great and world’s away from what it was a few years ago. |
| Forum Thread | 26 league wins this year at 19:39 11 Nov 2023
This team are setting club records that will outlive all of us. Hopefully the best is yet to come in terms of success and progress but the club won’t ever have another calendar year like the one we are enjoying now. The 2023 stats are ridiculous. |

Does anyone on here remember it? Did anyone go to the game or the one at PR two days later when we beat them 4-2? |
| Forum Thread | Bringing on back the good times at 09:50 27 Sep 2023
Goosebumps thinking about the emotions as it was played after the Exeter game as the players walked around the pitch. The crowd loved it, the players seemed to too. I’d love to hear it played at the final whistle every time we win. |
| Forum Thread | Who would improve us the most? at 10:48 20 Sep 2023
If you could pick one ex-player who has played for us since we were last relegated from the Premier League and put them into our current squad who would you choose and why? |
| Forum Thread | TWTD? at 22:06 19 Sep 2023
More like TATD. After the rubbish of the past decade, I’m getting as much enjoyment out of the last 8 months as I did when we were in our prime 40 plus years ago and our brief resurgence in the early 2000’s. Good times! |
