Suspect the result would have been different if Mr Unsworth had decided to take him to a UK court. Probably thought he’d get a bigger payout this way (which he would have done) but much more difficult to win a defamation case in the US as, given the jury made up of ordinary members of the public are making the call, they’re very keen on their 1st amendment. Plus, because they dish out punitive damages, they may feel the figure is too high for what they perceive the claim to be so side with the defendant.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
