It's made a mockery of those in that area who voted Brexit for economic reasons and the maths are quite simple.

However, the EU just signed a 0% car tariffs agreement with Japan and they have new bosses at Nissan so it's possible that manufacturing would have moved to Japan anyway.

Nissan had committed to Sunderland provided there was no material change to their costs and processes as a result of Brexit. The Japanese do tend to keep their word on this kind of thing, and value long-term relationships highly.

This is just more project fear from a company that will be directly affected by Brexit and are reporting what the consequences of it might be.

As per my original post, that word was given by the previous leadership, there have been large changes at the top of the organisation I believe.

There was always going to be a material change in the event of brexit without a deal, the face there is now a few trade agreement on cars between the EU and Japan is a double whammy.

Still, could all have been avoided by the area not voting brexit without the facts and the Tories not being totally useless.
