Can we have slightly less squabbling for the rest of the afternoon? Got stuff to do. Will just ban people who continue to waste our time.

Ironic that determination to have an 'open-minded alternative view of everything' has become such a concrete mind-set with her that it now denotes exactly the opposite - ie rigid closed-mindedness. Not sure she even realises this herself.

I think it does matter in that (again ironically), getting "the masses" of protesters to waste their time and energy on obvious trolls promoting the "alternative" point of view, is a common diversionary tactic amongst powerful global corps to protect their businesses. Not saying that's exactly the case here, but many on this thread have put huge amouts of time/energy into countering CIL's pov which they could have spent, at least partly, on actually doing constructive things to counter climate change, if not directly then indirectly.

Perhaps having some sort of insistence on uniformity of opinion on TWTD would be the best way to guarantee board harmony. I'm all for democracy, so each news item could be preceded by a series of polls to determine the most harmonious opinions to which we should all conform.

Let's take vaccination against measles as an example. (please forgive the leading questions)

Vaxx Poll 1: Do you think it's effective against the spread of measles?
Result: yes 80%, no 20%

Vaxx Poll 2: Do you think vaccination against the spread of measles should be compulsory?
Result: yes 70%, no 30%

Vaxx Poll 3: At what age should children be vaccinated against measles?
Result: at birth 10%, at 6 months 40%, at 12 months 30%, before starting primary school 20%

Vaxx Poll 4: What should the government do with those who refuse the vaccination of their children?
Result: enforced vaccination 58%, children taken from parents and placed in government care after vaccination 40%, nothing 2%

Vaxx Poll 5: Do you think there is any connection whatsoever between vaccination and autism
Yes 5%, No 60%, don't know 35%

Vaxx Poll 6: Should compensation be given to families whose children have demonstrably suffered as a result of measles vaccination?
Yes 51%, No 49%

Vaxx Poll 7: Who should pay this compensation?
The Pharmaceutical company 35%, The Government 20%, Parents of unvaccinated children 45%

Sounds great. Everything we can talk about and agree on can be democratically decided in advance. No dissenters at all. All "dangerous" alternative opinions silenced. Sort of like an authentically democratic German Democratic Republic.
