So then, hows this Brexit vote going to go today? 12:26 - Mar 12 with 11608 viewsSpruceMoose

Smart money is on it being voted down, the Brexit toilet overflows, everyone panics and all options are put back on the table. No point to a short extension. No more farting around the edges with sham negotiations. Surely May will go.

Can I get a peoples vote?! Amen.

"Wow, I'm not sure anyone can ever be completely sure what another poster means on a football forum. Anyway, it's a shame you're not able to link an example of my "lofty standards"."

Incredible. Just last week you accused me of using language in a specific way now you are saying you couldn't really know what I meant. Talk about shifting the goalposts to an entirely different pitch.

Here's an example since you want one:

MH370 - 5 years on by caught-in-limbo 7 Mar 2019 16:28
"What you do" and "what you try to do" are of course not necessarily the same thing.

You explained what you thought was the craziest conspiracy concerning MH370, but failed to give a source for such a conspiracy. You suggested it was from a comment in the Guardian. If it was, dig it out and share it. If not, do a google search. For a person who insists on the provision of evidence from others, it's a bit of a shame (for you) that you couldn't provide any yourself - especially in a thread you started.

What you appear to do is seek a position of superiority over some people with your language.

Your use of the word "rile" was inappropriate. I wasn't riled you couldn't provide evidence of your claim. Why would I be? It only exposes hypocrisy on your side.

Your use of the word "silly" when talking to another adult is clearly designed to belittle, but it doesn't, it only serves to expose your arrogance.

It's true that I respond more frequently to your use of such language, but that's because you are an erudite speaker and therefore have the ability to express yourself differently if you want to. But you don't - your use of language is intentional. So, in this case, "what you do" and "what you try to do" are the same, despite your claims to the contrary.

An entire post claiming to be completely sure what I mean on a football forum.

Perhaps if you weren't belittling and insulting other posters all the time you wouldn't have a few of them taking issue with you now. I'm not getting involved any further so enjoy your day.

I don't understand how this post can cause such an offence, unless you're looking for a fight:

"One man's fascist is another man's conservative 1. In the same way that "socialists" are "commies" to many Americans.

Although I personally don't have a problem with "the right" as a political position 2, as a rightwing capitalist with a history in investment/finance yourself, I don't expect us to see eye to eye on this one."

Notes

1. It's a question of individual perception
2. It is clear that I do not equate conservative or right wing values with fascism.

None of that responds to what I wrote. You've ignored the entire post because you've been given an exact example. Everyone reading the thread can see that's the case.

When you've been caught out it's best just to admit it, own up that you are wrong and that you were wrong in that thread and move on.

You literally just said "One man's fascist is another man's conservative" then said "It is clear that I do not equate conservative or right wing values with fascism".

I'm not sure where this is going as you don't seem to be able to look at this logically. I'm not looking for a fight but clearly you are. I'll leave it here. Have a good afternoon.

It would be easier for CiL to just apologise at this point rather than continue the mental gymnastics.

I disagree. What's most relevant is what caused you to react in the first place.

You reacted negatively despite the fact that I have repeated pointed out that there's nothing to be offended about in my post.

Surely "It is clear that I do not equate conservative or right wing values with fascism" when written directly after ""One man's fascist is another man's conservative" means that it's a question of individual perception and not a view held by me personally.

But good distortion all the same.

Hilarious.

You mean what is most relevant is ignoring the part where you’ve been showed to have huge double-standards.

As for whether I’m offended at being called right-wing, surely that’s up to me not you? You saying there is nothing to be offended about is incredibly arrogant.

You’ve had a total car crash in this thread but at least it’s allowed me to show how you manipulate and use double-standards in your postings whilst strongly accusing others of doing exactly that.

Nice of you to join in. The boredom started with an accusation that I said something offensive.

I'm keen to understand what I've said which is offensive. All answers I've received so far demonstrate that my words have been misinterpreted, perhaps on purpose.

I'm happy to apologise to anyone if I have said something unpleasant, but I really don't see how stating that someone's politics is "right wing" is offensive. My whole family back in the UK are right wing, I've never considered it wrong or even strange.

Perhaps you would shed some light on the matter to help clear things up rather than just wading in and bossing people around. You might want to start with examples of how I've been "shirty".

What I'm wondering is why he's Mullysplace1- not sure Mullysplace would have been taken already. And even if it were, would be a bit unkind to copy such a specific username.
