Until yesterday's report on it on 5live I'd never heard of it and when I'd listened to the article I was very sceptical to say the least. Last night I lay in bed and put my headphones on and listened to an ASMR video on YouTube. I have to say it was very very relaxing. Has anyone else experienced ASMR and found it relaxing.
I listen to a bit of ASMR, sometimes it's definitely worth a go. Relaxing, and a broad spectrum of videos, ranging from gaming videos to painting (á la Bob Ross) and geography videos.
I personally don't have anxiety issues but I've read that it really helps people relax and forget about things.
My other half listens to it every night when she goes to bed, has done for a long time though it does seem to becoming a bit more mainstream now.
From what I gather, you don't just listen to any old ASMR you find the things that work for you.
I will add that the sound of stuff being crinkled and tapped leaking through her headphones has woken me in the past, so I'm not sold on the idea.
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
Funnily enough I seem to recall first encountering ASMR via a past thread on TWTD.
I do actually find listening to such videos quite relaxing and occasionally use them to help me get to sleep. Must admit though, some of them are so odd it's rather distracting!!
