In this case, I don't think he is point scoring, he's making a valid point that the Met is not being properly funded at a time when its responsibilities (in having to deal with a more volatile security situation in terms of the attacks we've seen in the last couple of year) are increasing.
As an example, under Boris' watch the force asked for £344 million for the capital cities grant for 2016/17. The Home Office Executive Scrutiny Panel said it should be £281m. The actual funding given in the end was £174m. |  | | |
