Shane Supple in the Ireland squad 17:20 - May 21 with 2378 viewsRogerOsporn

NINE years after retiring from football. Madness.

Poll: Would you care if we sold Mcgoldrick this January?

Why is it madness? He's been playing again for several years now.

Whether or not there are better/more in form Irish keepers playing in this country is another question - I can't say I've been keeping track of them all.

Jay Tabb is in the England Rugby squad.

Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...
Poll: As things stand, how confident are you we will get promoted this season?

Two striking things about this:
1. Supple left because of the attitude of some of the other first team squad players when Keane was our manager, didn't he? And he's been called up into the squad where... Keane is assistant.
2. We really do have a record for producing British national goalkeepers, don't we? If you think of Nick Pope, Lewis Price, Michael Crowe, now Shane Supple. Shame none of it make it with us...

Poll: What is your voting intention on December 12?
Blog: Dear Martin Samuel...

The attitude stuff comes from (or at least started) before that I believe. He made his comments about attitude towards Royle's near-promotion side at any rate.

He seemed to have a generally poor view of the life of a professional footballer, certainly as far as he himself was concerned. Putting the money aside and the future life it would bring, I can sort of see his point. Similar in a way to an anonymous survey of professional golfers that was done 20 years or more back where a large minority said they wouldn't play golf at all if they didn't have to.

I guess it's hard for some people to keep their love for a sport alive when the sport often loses itself in the business of winning and doing a job.

Pronouns: He/Him

Believe he suffered with a bit of home sickness too.

Shane Supple isn't British

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.
