There has been a lot of talk what defines a big club
Is it the number of trophies won?
Is it the history?
Is it the size of the crowds they get in the past or now?
My guess is that almost every club in Prem/Champ would if asked consider they were a big club apart perhaps from likes off Burton
Look at the likes of Blackpool lots of trophies famous players big crowds back in the day can they be considered a big club?

The media's perception of a club also defines size. Even during the tenure of Bobby Robson, Town were considered a small club.

With regards this big club issue. Who cares?
Surely the big English clubs are those who have played regularly in the top European competition (so this would exclude Leicester.)
The other criterion surely has to be fan base illustrated by attendances and supporter numbers both in the country and worldwide.
ITFC are a medium sized club, as are most. No shame in that there are more smaller after all.
The history thing doesn't resonate at all and is really something nurtured by the fan's of the particular club only.
Huddersfield, for example, have one of the proudest records for top level achievement but it was ages ago and only really cherished, or indeed known, by any other than their fans. | | | |
