Congrats to Jack Lankester on winning this award having already picked up the club's young player gong.

The Bury-based attacker made a big impression when coming into the team in the autumn and it was unfortunate that injury put him out of action for the final few months. It will be good to welcome him back at the start of the new season.

Perhaps the most heartening aspect of this category is the number of players eligible to get a vote, non-loanees aged 22 or under making first-team appearances. A significant feather in the academy's cap with more prospects on their way through and Ben Folami and Barry Cotter having got votes last year but not having been involved in the first team in 2018/19.

There could be big seasons - and big careers - ahead for quite a number of them.
